I played the Badlands for the first time this weekend, and was surprised at the elevation changes one has to traverse. Pretty good course, my first impressions always seem to be less than stellar before the course has a chance to grow on me. That said, I'll be trying some of the other metro area tracks before I return there. I live up in Greeley; anyone have a recommendation for play in the metro area?

UPDATE; Frisco is playable and there are alot less trees, probably the 17,000 afore mentioned, but still ok
Vail was not affected by the pine beetles, nor was Beaver Creek, and both were beautiful as always
Aspen was as well but it wore my arse out

Anybody know if the courses at Vail and Beaver Creek in Avon are still playable? I saw in the Summit Co news that the pine beetles were causing the forestry dept to do a de-forestation effort to curb the devastation, and I was wondering if that effort was affecting the courses or not.

Anybody got any specifics on the Pioneer DG Course in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO.?? We booked a little motel room in HSS for June 10th. going to play the course.. There's little info. and no maps of the course, if anybody has one and wouldn't mind sharing:

We are still on "dial up" internet so if you can pls. keep the size of the file small as possible, thanks!!

anyone know of any colorado tournaments that are coming up in the next few months?

well, I was just reading on the Summit County news that Copper Mountain course was never installed this year due to a ecological survey on damage and that the Frisco course had 17,000 trees removed in a massive logging extraction
I might be a flatlander but does anyone else see the irony in this?
oh well, still planning on coming up in August, anyone have any comments on the Empire or Hot Sulphur Springs courses or a course in the area not previously mentioned???

we started putting together the tour of mountain courses together for 2008, looks like the middle of August
we will be staying in a friends condo in Copper and plan on playing Copper, Frisco, Russell Gulch, Vail, Avon, Glenwood Springs, Leadville, and both of the Snowmass courses
we would like to invite any Colorado golfers to join us, send me a message and I'll give you a better idea of our itenerary, plus with security being what it is, we may need a tour guide, nudge nudge

I round up a bunch of flatlanders and head to the mountains every other year for three or four days of disc golf, in fact last year we had t-shirts made by a friend for everyone.
So far my list of played courses are as follows:
Aspen Mountain Resort
Snowmass Ski Resort (Red DGC)
Vail Adventure Ride
Beaver Creek Resort
Glenwood Springs/Colorado College
Eagle County Fairgrounds
Copper Mountain Resort
Frisco Peninsula Resevoir
Leadville/Colorado College
Russell Gulch Ghost Town (private course that I stumbled upon driving Oh my God Rd.)
Johnny Roberts DGC
I'm going to try to organize another trip this year as well.

Last summer, I took my family to our time share in Dillon. While there, I thuroughly enjoyed playing the Frisco Course. I enjoyed an ace on hole number 2 with a spider. As if the day could not have gotten better, I stumbled across the town's Oktoberfest. After a day like that, I can assure you that I will be back every summer to play a little mountain side disc golf. You guys have some great courses.
