New Hole

I'm taking a pole.

 

heres the idea. I want to eliminate hole 7, turn hole 6 into a longer hole (or leave it the same), and make a new hole that will go between our current 8 and 9. I scouted a fantastic spot, that would give us a 300+ shot with OB and danger of course. In true grove style.  The new tee would be across from 8c over the path, and would play in the general direection of 9b pin. The new tee pad would be right near the walk path. This would eliminate a very small birdy hole, and trade it for a harder 3, or par 4, and add a new difficult par 3. It would also help with the danger of throwing at people on the tee pad of 8.

 

would require a solid day with 8 or so people to clear the new fairway.

 

what do we all think?

Do it. Hopefully I can get out there and help. It would be awesome if this could be accomplished before the Duck Chuck that is scheduled at the course on May 22. We could do a first round original layout then switch it up to your new holes on the front and new pin locations for the back for the second round. Think about it.

it could easily happen. all of you unemployed people get on the wagon. I work 70 hrs a week at least. having a baby next month. remodeling my house. I can delegate, and get permission from the city. thats all I can do.

I would definitely like to help clear a new fairway for a new #7. Before you start breaking ground on that project, can you try placing hole 7 pin in the 8a position? I think that would make it a much more challenging par 3. If Their are people on tee pad 8, they would be in earshot so yelling FORE would solve any danger. BTW, I like the 8c par 4, I birdied it yesterday!

I like 7 I throw a nice skip hyser for birds. I'm up for anything new also.

love the idea of another par 4....agree that 7 is a pretty weak hole....throwing from teepad 6 to basket 7 sounds like it could be really cool, but i have concerns about discs on the highway......teepad 10 also kind of limits opening up a new fairway to the left of 6b fairway.

new hole 9 sounds sweet......i'll have to scheck it out

i'll throw out some other wacky ideas for getting rid of a hole....................
combine 7 and 8 into an epic par 5 hole
combine 1 and 2 into an Oakway style par 5
combine 5 and 6 into lefty hell highway
combine 9 and 10 (might cause problems with BMX jumps)
just eliminate 7 and make it a walkout

thats all the wacky ideas i have...................getting busier, life, kid, hernias

How about stretching 7 out a bit farther and putting the placement on the berm? (kind of like Hole 5 at Adair)

That would make it much more difficult and would only require digging a B position sleeve. And then for someone to Birdie that hole it would require they go through the trees on the left instead of laying up the easy hyzer on the right.

I think we should just use the short pin placement for 8 as a long setting for 7!

I like the idea Tom. Anything to make the course more challenging. The Grove should be one of the more advanced in Oregon. Let me know what the final verdict is.
