The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I have a list of things that need to be done for each hole at The Grove. You might want to sit down as it is a long list.

Materials available- Mulch- There is a big pile on hole 2 fairway, a pile on 9 fairway and a small pile on 17 fairway.   Gravel- There is a pile or 3/4 gravel and a pile of 3/8 gravel on the walkout from 1 to 2. There is a pile of 3" gravel on 16 fairway. It is tough to shovel but lasts forever. There is some 3/4 gravel on the way from the city.

Hole 1- Needs mulch near bench and any other muddy areas (looks like some of that has already been done). needs another nice bench.  a little bit of 3/4 gravel around the teepad.  Regular trash can emptying and trash pick up (on all holes). Wooden stakes hammered in on the OB road line behind the basket(or a painted line so it will be easy to mow and still know where OB is)

Hole 2-  #/4 gravel around teepad,  1 more bench

Hole 3-  Gravel and rubble to build up around teepad,  pour teepad extension,  mulch around basket,  maybe a bench or two if we can figure out where they could go.

Hole 4-  Wooden stakes to show OB line between swamp area and non- swamp area,  #/4 gravel around teepad,  Scott Wales will eventually build benches

Hole 5-  mulch around basket 5B position,  pour teepad extension,  maybe another bench to go with the picnic table

Hole 6-  clean up loose wood debris on fairway,  pour teepad extension,  2 benches

Hole 7-  pour teepad extension and add on to the left side of teepad for new route that opened up on left.

Hole 8-  3/4 gravel around teepad,  benches

Hole 9-  2 benches, move stumps by teepad

Hole 10-  3/4 gravel around teepad,  benches,  mulch on green

Hole 11-  mulch around teepad (done),  back fill behind teepad

Hole 12-  mulch on 12a and 12b greens,  build up rubble gravel to make larger teepad area,  benches

Hole 14-  3/4 gravel around teepad,  pour teepad extension,  mulch on path from 14 to 15,  benches

Hole 15, 3/4 gravel around teepad,  benches

Hole 16-  3/4 gravel around teepad,  benches

Hole 18-  Have Tom Chrestman locate teepad with spray paint,  dig out for teepad,  add 2-3" 2/4 gravel, tamp with Tom Chrestmans vibrating tamper,  build form for large teepad-minimum 12' length x 5' width finish concrete with extra grippy "rake-broom-rake" finish.

I met Brad out working on hole 5 today. He was spreading bark there and around hole 6 teepad. next he was going to do some weed-eating....Thanks Brad.

Great thread Gene. Thanks for all your hard work Brad. I played The Grove today and noticed all of the new mulch on 5 and 6. The city came and mowed too which really looks good. It was a beautiful day for disc golf. Good to see folks warming up at our new practice basket. basket 8 will be in the C position soon. hang tight. anybody out there working on the course, please let us know and take some credit for your hard work.
Hey Gene, it was good to meet you out there the other day. Thanks for the to do list, it's nice to know what else I can do to help. I am going to get out again and spread more bark on some trails between pads and around the pins as well as do more brush whacking. The ground cover plants and blackberries are coming up fast!
I would like to start building up the ground around the tee pads with the rubble and gravel and now is a good time to do it while the piles the city dumped a off are not dried solid hard yet. Shoveling it is no fun, does anyone have a front end loader? I was thinking about renting a Dingo type machine one day to make quick work of it. When I get to that, Tom Chrestman's compactor would come in handy.
I will be out there off and on this week, I've got extra tools, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows and more, let me know if anyone wants to join forces.
The mowed grass on 1,2 and 18 looks great!
