Hey Guys, Tee signs for The Grove are up, with the exception of hole 6, which is going to be swallowed up by hole 5 eventually; and holes 8, 14, 15, 17, & 18 were completely destroyed by…Continue

Played a round of glow golf at the Grover last night. I was surprised to see how much work had been done since I was there a week ago. Bark mulch piles delivered, new stairs on 13, a new bark mulch trail on 15. I ran into Mark Scheid and Dustin Keegan busting out some work. Thanks Guys?
The ace pole is alive! Nicely done Gene and Randy. The only thing I don't like about the Ace Pole is that I don't have an ace on it. My plan was to have several aces by the time the markers went on. Somewhere my plan went horribly wrong. I was wondering if there was any way that I could get partial credit for a couple of really near misses and maybe save up points towards an ace. I know I have what it takes to get my name on the Ace Pole, but I seem to be struggling with the actual shot. I don't think we should really get too technical about it anyhow. Isn't the Ace pole really about trying your best, giving it your all. Shouldn't we get an Ace for effort? If were willing to be out there in the dark throwing our bag of glow discs at the basket doesn't that make us Ace Pole worthy? Dam that Ace Pole!!!!!!

Hey Tab,
That sounds awesome. Nicely done. If Tom or Dan are too busy I'd be more than happy to meet with him. He may be interested in helping support some of the immediate needs of the course. Lets check in with Tom and Dan, they have a big meeting with the City on some immediate course needs(dumpster, gravel, mulch). If he would like his name or company name displayed, then a tee sign or bench sponsorship might be an option. Nicely Done!

Hey Adam, I actually saw a guy at the course, named Tom( goes by Tommy Gun on the web), and he said he had his own business, and was willing to spend his own money to help with a course, and obviously I said " we would be grateful beyond belief". But he wanted to talk about it with someone. I'll try to get a meeting with him. Maybe I'll see you Wed. or I'll be at the Tourney on Sun. Call if you want 541-543-5860

I agree with you that I am getting ahead of myself on the tee signs. They defintely are not the priority money wise or labor wise. I'm just crazy that way!
No heres the logic. During our meeting there were several discussions about possibly? and I mean possibly Mystery Sponsor? Donovan? or maybe Oregon Natural Stone? sponsoring teesigns. In order to approach potential sponsors you need to have some tee sign possibilities and rough prices. That doesn't mean that I think we should use our limited funds and labor to put in tee signs at this point, not at all, but if someone is willing to pay for a sign in exchange for their name or company logo on the sponsor panel, I'll install it tonight.

As far as the baskets are concerned, the Cottage Grove Course has entered into an awesome relationship as the Eugene/Cottage Grove Disc Golf Club. We now have:
-talented fundraisers doing what they do best.
-talented money managers doing what they do best.
-talented course builders doing what they do best.
-Decades of tounemant and course building experience to draw from.
-A freakin trailer
-A smokin hot Ninkasi Winter Series

If people can cooperate and work as a team, we as the Eugene/Cottage Grove Club can raise money for the next set of baskets for the next course were gonna build and the baskets in Cottage Grove can stay in Cottage Grove without Tom, Dan Luke, or myself having to shell out $6,000 to pay for them. If we go back to fussing and fighting and licking our wounds were gonna end up with a course with no baskets, baskets with no course and three defunct clubs that throw more crappier tournements.

On a more positive note, I dug the hole for the new long pin on hole 5 at the grove last night. That's right Lefty Hellroad just got a little bit hotter! Ralph Huntoon is cranking out sleeves like a madman and the Grove is blowing up.

Wednesday nights actually work well for me for working on the course. I get off work at 4 and can be down there by about 4:30. You'd be amazed what you can get done in an hour if you get to it. I have two wooden "next tee" signs that I am going to pour in concrete. I also have another bench 75% complete that I am also going to pour in concrete. I have the truck, and all the tools. Tom is going to stake out some more long pins when he gets a chance and we can dig them out. No shortage of work to do.

I'll start a thread on the Tee Signs.

As always Tab, thanks for everything you've done for this course. I know you've put a lot of yourself into it.

I think we still have some people out there willing to donate their time and labor for the cause, I'm one of them. We also still have to finish the tee pads. These are are good ideas for signs, but we have to generate some funds to purchase the baskets from EDGC and pay for the rest of the concrete, then maybe think about signs. I like the thought of having signs, and it would make the course really professional looking. So let's think of some ways to make money for this course. Anyone have a Sugar Momma, or Daddy, or maybe just have some events there. I am available some days to work on the course, if we have the money to do something. Good research on the signs Adam.

We need to have a rainy day to install tees for 17 & 18. Wouldn't be right if it weren't raining. I'm there for the grunt work, let me know Tom, Adam, Forest, Scotty. Great job Will on the Alton Baker event. I loved the layout, and the weather was just what you said. Look forward to another!
