First time I heard of the Grateful Dead I was 12 years old and read a fictional book about some hippies in the early 70's who were listening to some Dead music. This was in the early 70's and had to find if this was a real band or not. Being Hispanic and hearing Jerry Garcia was the leader had to listen . Fell deep into there spell along with their experimental ways, still listen to them but have quit experimenting. I now know what I'm doing

The first time I saw the dead was in 1971 the bay area. Maybe before then I really can't remember.

Never got to see them but most definetely did my fair share of experimenting. Thats in the past too though, wish I could have seen them!
