Great news Audi. You can do it! and Tell Phil I said good luck as well. It feels so much better living without that nasty habit.

Okay so I have been taking Chantix for over 3 weeks now and havn't had a smoke in over 2 weeks. I FEEL GREAT!!! And I don't SMELL! My fiancee has started the pill too and it REALLY doess help. It takes all of the tension off the cravings. I haven't gone crazy yet, but will keep you posted. LOL

Chantix eh? Never heard of it, I hope it works well for you.

I plan on quitting by the age of 35 as well.

My doc has warned me about it all. The dreams and such. They only people who had the CRAZY side effects didn't have the evaluation done like they tell you to. I did and passed. Anyone with a chemical issue will have those side effects. I did my homework. They make you feel weird, but it's helping. And as far as the cost. My insurance is covering everything but a $10 co-pay, so even if it doesn't work I am not out much. Not to mention Phil ( my fiancee ) is trying to quit as well. It makes it easier for me with him trying too. In 2 days I have cut what I normally smoke in half! I need to be way down by next week. They have you set goals. I am competitive so it helps.

ive been a pack a day smoker for 17 years,im going to try to quit cold turkey on july 1st.I set this date like 4years ago,its 2weeks after my 35th b-day,its gonna be the hardest thing ive ever done, ive never quit before, the only time i stoped for more than a day was when i got thrown in jail for 5 days when i was 20!!!I am pretty physically fit,i work out,and i run on the treadmill when im at the gym, anywere from 1-4 miles. My ultimate goal is to quit forever and i want to run the suzuki rock and roll marathon(26.2 miles) in may of 2010 in san diego ca.I ve always looked like a health nut, but the smoking has got to stop,i need to give myself a chance and i dont want to use smoking as a excuse why i cant achieve all the things that i want to do!!! Good luck to all those trying to quit, its probably the best thing you can ever do for yourself, Ian Funston

be careful with that Chantix , Audi. my mom had some wierd stuff hapen on it, and we had a local guy get killed basically because of it a year ago. I've heard all sorts of bad stuff about it.
good luck though :)

My doc gave me that script too but I hate drugs and the cost especially. What I did, got drung the night before and told myself I never smoked in the first place, woke up the nextr morning and haven't smoked since. I chew lots of gum but its sugar free so no harm. It can be done. I smoked for at least 20 years and havent picked one up since January 1st, 2009. This was not a new years resoultion either because those are so easy to break.

I quit smoking this year around the end of January. The first week was hell. It got progessively easier, but really, the first full month without smokes was not my idea of fun. Then I had a bit of a breakthrough at the end of March. I was talking with a friend about how my quitting was going when he asked "So how often do you get the urge to smoke?" when I noticed that I hadn't thought about cigarettes at all the whole day before we started this conversation. Of course, it doesn't go away completely. When I'm near a smoker, I feel like I want a cigarette. I know that resisting that urge makes me feel far better than any cigarette ever could. To those of you trying to quit, I say this:

You CAN do it.

Best of luck to all of you. It's not an easy road, but it's one well worth traveling...
