Older disc golf fan here in CA.  Just learned to throw (still learning) and I am totally addicted to playing.  I am always happy to hear the guys and other women at the course encouraging other women and older players.  I love disc golf and disc golfers!

To go a few messages back, Guys like playing with girls, when there isn't money involved. Most guys are not intelligent enough to know that if a girl is playing a dubs league then chances are she can actually play. Last time I played dubs with a girl we ended up taking third and made a few of the guys take back there eye rolling. We only won 6 bucks each playing $2 buy in but it is still my favorite pay out.

Not that I've seen you throw, but what helped me was to start the disc up higher- like shoulder high- & really angle the front of the disc down. A friend recently told me more helpful advice on throwing anhyzers- I assume that's what you're going for: make sure you lean back a little when you rip it. I may not be saying it right, but your shoulders should be in line with you heels. Nose up is ok, don't forget how to do that- you'll still need some hyzer shots. Just think of your natural standing postion: shoulder forward=hyzer, shoulders back= anhyzer. Try pulling your arm through from your left shoulder to your right pec, boob whatever you want to call it. Arm speed is also an important factor- pull through as fast as you can. You'll be throwing like a man in no time! Best to go practice this in a field the 1st few times so you get all the shankos out of your system before you go show the boys how its done ;)

Thanks so much girl do you have any advice about keeping the disc nose down? Thats one thing I'm having a prob with. I'm throwing like 200+ ft but its all nose up...lol

O yea! The 1st time I saw some real pro women play was at the Greater Tulsa Open in 2008, until then it'd just been a dream to meet these ladies. I was so giddy when the lead Pro Womens' card came by. We watched as Val, Des, Courtney, & Burl all threw like 400 feet! I was like I'm so going to do that one day! I'm getting there; I can bomb just over 300' with my Nuke! Keep at it Jennifer! One thing that really helped me was reading the articles in the disc golf magazines- they're really helpful. or if you get a chance to talk with a Pro now & then, ask lots of questions. You'll learn about angles, wind, seeing the lines- all kinds of good stuff. Always remember- this is a very mental game; the more confidence you have, the better you'll play! So keep kicking those boys' butt=D

hahahaha heck no!!! I almost aced a hole in the open with like 10 dudes walking around and everyone came over and was like dang can you teach my gf or great drive and everytime I go out and one of the guys is there with a new friend they are like thats the girl that almost aced hole 10 dude watch her drive...lol Whats funny is thats how I was when I watched Valerie Jenkins drive this past weekend! She threw it like 300+ ft it was so awesome! and she was making like 100 ft putts!!! My jaw dropped alot this weekend watching the pro female players!

I like playing with girls, but you're right- some of them can be fun-suckers. I play better with the guys. It makes me feel super cool to out-drive them, beat them on a hole or when I go out & some newbies see me drive & it makes their jay drop. Ego inflation isn't always a bad thing right?
