Just like ball golf aces... U most likely write a check to the winner or pull out cash later?

Our club has an ace pool for our monthly tounaments. Since we design our own courses, only a few holes are aceable. The money built up so big at one point that we had a vote at a monthly by current members and took half the funds out to be added to the basket fund. Currently the ace pot is about $250 or so. If yours gets above $500 either split it and cap it at $250 or get all the club members to vote on a worthy (not party) cause to put it toward.

I believe that hitting an ace means buying a round at a bar for the foursome out of your winnings.

Should an ace pool be capped? If so, @ how much? Why or why not? Keep part for the club or no? Winner buys beer for group?

anhyzer bush.pdfI have looked for cool disc golf shirts around. They are very hard to find. I own a custom Apparel shop and decided to offer shirts to discers.

Check out this order form and let me know what you think. Offer the shirts to your members.

Thoughts on long drive tournaments. I have never seen any, but thought it might be a neat community event to hold a long drive tournament say at the high school football field. Hold long putt too. Have divisions of disc golf players and non players. Have disc golf vendors there and offer a t-shirt and 5 drives for $5 or something like that.

My advice to anyone here is:
1.) Get your bylaws together and make sure that everyone understands how the mission statement is your core to work out from.
2.) Build your board of directors from those who have already proven their willingness to work and start nurturing other players to take on roles so that they can become board members for when others move on.
3.) Evaluate your minimum operating expenses and try to grow slowly from there. You may need to eat the operating costs for a while so try to spread the cost among other board members.
4.) Membership dues are a sticky issue, as the real casual players don’t see the cost benefit. Once a year we show our operating costs to the players and encourage them to get an annual membership ($10), but this is not required.
5.) Run a few annual charity events, as this will make you feel good about the club.
6.) Fundraisers are okay but try not to put too much time and money up front. These are best for new members with lots of enthusiasm.
7.) A sponsor can help but don't bet on a regular cash sponsor.
8.) Remember it is a labor of love and whatever you put into it you will get back from it.

I think there are plenty of opportunities for fun for Clubs that have limited or no money.
I've run the Chico Disc Golf Club for around 10 years. We are a low-key, grassroots type of Club. We do not pay dues, but still have around 50 members who regularly participate.
That being said we have Weeklies every Saturday, have held tourneys occasionally at our course, hold a Year End Fundraiser/Basket Raffle and used to run a 7 week putting leagues in the back of a local bar (very fun).
We have also had shirts and discs made in the past, mostly for fun, but also to raise awareness of our sport and our club.
As long as everybody is having fun, I don't know that you need a lot of money to have a good time.

I agree that a club with little to no money can still do a lot to promote the game in your area. Very little of what our club does even involves money, however we do have a good sized savings ready for when we need it.

More important in my mind is to offer fun local events and foster a sense of inclusion for everyone in your club, not just the top pro's. This way you'll have the dedicated volunteers you'll need as you take on bigger projects as a club (such as sanctioned events, course installations and work days, etc.)

This is easier said than done, of course, but there are many examples of successful clubs out there to follow. Good luck!

Well, you can do lots of things with a club without money. Money can get you nice things like discs, towels, but they are not needed.

Money is not an issue with our club. We formed it last year and had 30+ members. This year it is going to go well beyond that.

I as the President control the money. I do let the Board of Directors know what is going on with the money and how it is spent. I also seek their input on those things that we want to spend money on as well.

Well, we already have a big group that plays at Morse Beach in Cicero Indiana. It is a small course but works for us. We play random doubles on Thursday nights. It is great fun. I won $40 the first time out. We are not organized to do much though. People just do their own thing when it comes to going to tournaments. We don't have a name so I created one...Morse Beach Disc Golf Club. What do you think?
