I was playing a round last yr with a group of friends last yr ,royce was trying to throw a ani around a group of alder trees .the moose had chewed the alder branches so on royces follow through he impaled his hand on a branch then it broke off.royce stood there looking at it for a sec then he reached out and pulled it out and went pale and we ran him to trhe hospital.he was lucky no damage to nerves or ligaments .he was throwing the next day left handed with a 1 stroke handicap and was throwing right handed 2 weeks later .so we now say as someone throws near a tree to "not to royce themselfs"

It's a dangerous game, LOL! We have a huge tree at Oak park by hole 4. The squirrels are constantly throwing nuts at us!

Fell teeing on wet grass yesterday, and then got beaned by 3 walnuts, which left a bruise, right after taking my disc out of the basket on the last hole.

I have similar issues; I used to be a pretty hard core softball player. Never had any problems with my throwing arm until recently. Now, I've got this recurring shoulder injury. Finally going to the chiropractor to get it fixed. I don't think I hurt my shoulder throwing; the dr. thinks its more from my bag and backpak straps.

The spring after I finished my fourth year of college football, a career that withstood any major injury to my extremities, i went out to play a leisurely round at famed White Birch Park (est 1976) in Florrisant, Missouri. Hole #1 is a short 3 par that requires a shot over a 30 foot ravine with a running creek. Being the aggressive type, I take the hard line--through a couple trees no further wide than 15 feet apart to the basket--and hit one of the trees. Of course, the disc bounced into the ravine and as I descended to fetch it, I tore my left MCL. In 12 years of playing linebacker, I never had a knee injury until the dangerous sport of disc golf bit me!

So a former Strike Team member and I decide to take a road trip to J-town North Dakota and throw down at the mighty reservoir but ended up taking a detour and stopped in Valley City to have a go at City Park. (Which by the way is grossly over rated. There are zero par 4 holes there, and they have three holes rated as 4, none of which by the way are over 300 feet.)
We get to the park with about forty minutes of sunlight left and everything is cool. Both of us are sitting under heading into the back half of the course and I am up at the box at hole four. I grab my shitty DX Gator, (the last Dx I carried at the time and it has since been retired) and having played the hole before know I can almost ACE it with a strong Hyzer. So I apply said hyzer and completely forget the fact that there is a strong westerly wind behind us.
As soon as I release we both know its all bad. Disk goes over river, cuts back in, wind grabs disc and slams it into the bank. I watch stupidly as the disk drops softly into the Sheyenne. Gunn turns to me and in a manner that only he can delivers..."Guess you shouldn't have done a hyzer with a strong wind huh?" I don't say anything and we walk to get my disk, which is luckily right next to the bank.
I take off my kicks and socks and descend into the abyss. I ask Gunn to grab my Sham wow (You’ll be saying Wow every time!) and he does as I grab my disk. Gunn says if I throw from where I'm at he wont stroke me, so I do and have a respectable up shot. I climb out of the water, grab my gear and walk over to my disc. Here is where it gets funny.
Unbeknownst to me Gunn hasn't yet tossed his second throw and he is behind me. I, like a shmuck, am bent over my bag drying off my legs and feet with the Sham wow (It's made in Germany and you know those Germans make good shit!) and am completely oblivious to the fact that Gunn is taking aim for the basket, which I am standing in directly in front of.
Get this image into your head. Me bent at the waist looking at my feet and drying them off, Gunn looking at me and the basket and taking aim, releasing and (HOLY HARRY CARRY I JUST GOT SMOKED IN THE FRIKN HEAD!!!) I hear "FORE!" about a nano second before.... WHAM! I reached up to my head and fell right the fuck over. Right on to my side and laid there like a douche. Gunn comes running up saying "Holy shit man I'm sorry." Over and over again. I regain my senses and finish toweling off and put my shoes back on. We then did the only thing we should have done. Finished the round. .......
We both bogeyed the hole.
Fucking Valley City man.
