Yeah I would like to get a mini keyboard. I think I'm going to hook up my bongos through a mic through a audio interface into my computer and use it as a Midi basically for my drums, as hook up I would be able to make them sound like whatever sound/instrument I put them to, plus I'm getting a cymbal for them. Going to do the same thing with my didgeridoo I think.

Yeah it got shipped out Friday, can't wait! I've been playing on Reason 4 also, pretty awesome as well, it's all set up like a big rack and you hit tab and can move the cables around on the back of the rig, can still do a lot with it, not as much as Ableton. It's still nice though, more organic feel to it of actual equipment. I've made a couple full beats off the drum machine off it and still working out using other things on it. It seems more geared towards making like actual band music, like Rock and stuff. So I might use it a lot for my "Organic Clones" stuff (like a rock/industrial project, Nine Inch Nails, Kidneythieves). I think for "Normal Oddity" project I'll probably still end up using Ableton, who knows I might end up using Ableton for both as I get to know it better, with out a doubt more complex then Reason 4, Reason seems easier to just go with it, more simple set up.

NICE Roy!
The APC 40 is sweet.
Bigger in person than it looks in the picture!
I went to a seminar at Full Sail when It was released...
You are gonna Dig Live 8, endless possibilities.
Reason is sick, I love the malstrom synth, grrrrr.
I have 20 days left on my live 8 demo but I am planning to upgrade after the Cliff Tourney and Year end payout! This weekend!!!
Started with Live 2 and upgraded through Live 5, but seem to be using live 3 for recording. Strange. But not for long!!!
ABLETON LIVE 8 SUITE IS MY early CHRISTMAS PRESENT!
If you need a drum pad, check out the m-audio trigger finger. I saw Thomas Dolby tear it up on stage with one of these. He had some pads assigned to start loops and some pads assigned to drum sounds. Bad ass! A foot pedal for looping makes you the one man band, live on stage. Go Crazy Man!!!

FULL SWAP!!! I returned the tables and mixer in thoughts of going back to a better midi controllers. I came across the deal of a LIFE TIME THOUGH on Ableton Suite 8, Reason 4, and Native Instruments Komplete. So I'm getting a Akai-40 controller and going to make the move I've been wanting to do, but couldn't afford and make the jump from DJ to composer (digital composer rather). I'm very excited!!!

no, I've seen the software online on youtube and what not. I've heard it's not that great of software. Everybody talks about Traktor Pro and ableton.

Anyone try virtual DJ?

yeah I downloaded the basic download this morning. I'll download the trial some time didn't have time to at the moment (612MB).

Yeah it was too late on the mixer.... I already bought one online, it's one of the highest end ones of Behringer, so hopefully that's good. It was one out of the 2 best set ups for the prices range I was looking for. Especially being it has 4 channels and I really wanted to have most of the effects right on the mixer as I like having to stop and mess with the computer during a mix. I know it will limit me some live, but it will also free up some chaos live, simplify it. The CD Turntables I'm getting don't hook up to usb. I just couldn't afford to dish out $250 each for the Gemini ones that hook up usb (let alone Pioneer's or Denon's). That and didn't want to be too much on software, get a lot of shit for it from DJ's. "Your not a "real" DJ" or whatever you know. It's crazy the polities of DJ'ing...

But really it's more having the professional size set up, more simple so I get back to basics. That and having the effects right at my finger tips. I know you can with the higher end mixers with the software and program the knobs. Though that goes back to cost. I plan on doing a little of both I think, do some pre-mixes and sounds on software and have it set up nicely for two cd's the burn them and turn them. I might have to wait until first thing in the morning or something to download the full 612MB trial verison. Figure this will give me a quick intro to the software first. Thanks again for all the tips and advice.

Ableton Live is the best DJ instrument ever created. Endless possibilities and effects galore! Assignable A & B slider is built in for DJ gigs. 50 turntables and a microphone(http://www.ableton.com/pages/tips/2004_04)! It is my most impressive toy for manipulating music. It comes with lessons. Read the manual. Hook up a mic and record yourself into a clip. Make some loops...
