I just read on another forum that the Oregon Series as we have come to know and love it is no more. Where does that leave the GNO? I hope it is still on.

damn and crap. well, looks like it's time for all that local help to actually step up and make the summer one to remember. i plan on helping the gno and ec as much as i possibly can... let's make this summer fun and productive oregon!
Sounds to me like every tournament is still on, as well as series points and series payout, just not under the ORS umbrella run by the Bellingers and Todd Andrews. Clubs need to step up even more and if we all pull it together it should be fine. The timing isn't optimal but I for one appreciate everything the ORS team did to make the series one of the best in the country. I know I wouldn't have had the time or energy to even attempt it, much less do it for that many years.
Sounds more like there is problems in upper management....The way I interpret all this is that it seems some old ways of doing things are finally falling away, and the new school golf management is coming to power... Sounds more like good news rather that bad... I think that good things are on the horizon. Our EDGC is full of very positive people that are willing to get their hads dirty. We just need new management to delegate... Lay it on us Rebecca!!! We can do it!!
I have been hitting up people for sponsors for the GNO. I have wheels now so I can canvas better and I have extra time. I need the forms because I do not have a printer. I know a car dealer in Roseburg that will be opening a lot across from Nilknarf's, ( Buck's favorite pub ) that is a new disc golfer and said he would definitely be a sponsor. I know the owners of club 1444 and they will more than likely sponsor. PC Market of Choice is another and some friends I have that own a restaurant would be a good sponsor also. Please help me with how or where I can get the sponsor forms. I have lots of good contacts here so I want to help :)
so the edgc is running the first Oregon Series (or whatever the hell we're going to call it now) of the year. i have all the faith in the world that we can do this successfully, there's no doubt in my mind, but i just got a couple of quick questions (and perhaps these are way premature but bear with me)... does this means that the EDGC will have to register everyone, submit all scores, divy out script, provide all the discs and so on and so forth? if i remember correctly this was usually done by the bellengers with the help of local staff.
Yes, we'll be responsible for everything, but we handled all the registration in the past. The main new tasks will be scoring and setting up the pools.

Payout usually follows pretty simple formulas. We might not mess with script, just hand out a stacks of plastic to Am winners and let the trading begin.

So we will need to ensure that people volunteer to help with all of this, but it's not rocket science. The club has handled lots of tournaments before the ORS folks took the lead.

Nothing has been decided yet. So hold onto your hats and wait a bit for official information to come out. There will be more information in the next week. Whether or not the Oregon Series will go on is not set in stone but don't count it out.

Tom, Cris and T are out of town right now but they'll be back after this weekend. Until they come back we probably won't have a lot of information.
that's what i figured. i do like the idea of script though. with out it it might be quite the clusterfrick. i'll stay in touch with all of you guys and try my best to make the next meeting. i have no problem devoting whatever it takes to make these two tourneys run a smooth as humanly possible. casey and i are going to dye some discs for ctp's and such. but we can talk about all of that in the near future...
As Jim stated...The major difference will be the "Scrip" and scoring.

It would be "easiest" for the TD to do "pre-packaged" payouts and let the players "trade" as they see fit.
That surely doesnt mean that you will not be getting your full $ worth. Just not the opportunity to "pick" your plastic.

Some clubs WILL be able to do "scrip". I believe that Next Adventure has stepped up to offer scrip for events in the Portland Area. The Willamette Club has stated that they will be able to do Merch for the WO XI and can help Calapooia if needed.
Each CLUB will now need to do a little more work to pick up the "slack" that the "Series" used to deal with.

It can be done....
I just spoke to T and there will be an official announcement when they get back next week.

For those who are concerned about their existing Oregon Series scrip, it will all be honored.

There is more to come though.
