You know Twisted Flyer endorses fishing! (not acctually confirmed)

Welcome fishermen!

If there is anything better, or close to, ringing the chains with an ace, it has got to be setting that hook on a big fish!

I made this club for us disc golfers that also fish!

Share stories, talk baits, tips and techniques (I hope), and whatever else....!

Well I guess I should update the Fisherman's Club on what Penny and I have been up to...

Winter time means tough bass fishing especially with these Oklahoma winds...

However, luckily we have discovered Crappie fishing....

First off, these are beautiful fish, and they taste awesome! We just fried up a bunch of fillets the other night with the works, cornbread, fried potato's.........

.........let me tell you, it just doesn't get any better than that!!!

I was eating one of those beautiful golden pieces of fish and I thought to myself......

"Self.....you have got yourself a Death Row meal right here...."

Then I told that to my dad and he had a good laugh thinking about some prison workers having to go down to the fishing dock and catch up a bunch of crappie for me to eat...

White and Black Crappie, mostly Black, are a very fun fish to catch.

We started fishing with minnows, but I have quickly switched to jig fishing.

You just tight line these jigs, figure out what color they are biting on that day, and commence slaying the fish.

It takes a lot of patience, and practice, but I am looking forward to catching a limit or two this year (15 fish)....

I hope.... : )

Hey Red....Where's the pic of your catch from yesterday??

Ok, I will fill everyone in on the fishing journey of Red and Penny...

We've discovered a new fishing hole, very close to our catfish pond. Its probably only 15 feet wide and maybe 4-5 feet deep at the deepest point. We were scouting the area 2 days ago, and saw what we thought was fish action in the water. We return with gear in hand...first cast, Red caught a very nice catfish. Everything we've caught since then has been largemouth bass ranging in size from 1/4 lb(if that) to 4lbs.
I was extremely shocked that a little body of water could hold so many good-sized fish.

Turns out that last year, our "catfish pond", was a bass pond. There was a prolonged stint of dry weather and an algae bloom. These contributed to a large fish kill. The bass in the creek must have washed out of the pond before the kill.

I wonder if it would be safe to return them to the big pond again, to try and restock it??

That is awesome!

I have heard that redfish are good eats.

I just got dad's baitcasting rig re-spooled at Bass Pro last night. Man I love going to that place!

HAHAHHA "REDFISH FISHING" or "RED FISHING" heard them both. And just my 2 cents "sight-fishing" is a blast! we dont use the ladders like they do, but most of us have "walk over" platforms over the outboard motors on the boat that we can pole around from. And when we go shark fishing we use cut mullet or other "scrap" fish for bait and take chicken blood and fish meal for chum.

Caught another catfish last night.....

It is getting really cool around here, and we just had our first real hard frost last night.

I need some better gloves.
