I was Born and Raised in GR!
Remember Ace at Garfield Park with a 141 Mold from the top of the hill!
Hit the Post SOLID!
Dad moved to 68th street and BREWER was my home course....Riverside when it was just 18, Johnson when it had baskets, Jay Cee past the cemetery!
Last visit, my Stepdad brought me to the new OLD FARM course where one of his sons lives in the neighborhood. I hit an ace on the hole over the water, a slow glide anhyzer that I told him "might have a chance!"
He is a ball golfer and told me it was the first "hole in one" he had witnessed. He had never seen anybody play disc golf before. His 2 sons and their kids play disc golf all of the time now and are hooked!
I introduced them to the FUN!
My best friend who lived next door to me and threw Frisbees with me when we were kids now owns his own Pizza Shop and when I spent 2 weeks at Worlds, I drove back from Kalamazoo and Battle Creek to his store EVERY NIGHT for Dinner!
The food is THAT INCREDIBLE ! and there is nothing like it here in Florida where I live now.
He is right up the street from BREWER, so after you finish your round there, hop in the car, take a left out of the park, order on your cell phone and by the time you get there.....YUMMMEEEE! Hot and Ready.
Here is the link to his PIZZA!
He will be working on a SPECIAL for DISC GOLFERS soon and is joining DiscGolfersRus TODAY as I called him and persuaded him to get on because his whole family and most of the staff are DISC GOLFERS!!!
The shop is very close to the CASCADE TOWNSHIP course too and if all goes well......He may start to carry....yes....SWEET CANDY PLASTIC....oh!
PIZZA and PLASTIC ? I will be there!

Flying Disc Magazine hit majr retailers today. I stopped at the 28th st Barnes and Nobles and picked up a copy for $5.95. Interesting magazine. It was the PDGA member mag last year. While it is not entirely about disc golf, the majority of aricles covered instruction, courses, players and more. Stop in and pick up a copy.

HASTINGS -- Disc golf player Brad Gee says a course could bring more people to underutilized hiking trails.

Gee and local professional disc golfer Sam Sherwood are looking for sponsors to start a nine-hole course at the Zhigaawin hiking trails, near Hammond Road just north of State Road.

Gee said he has hiked the trails for years and is bewildered by its low number of users. The woods and open meadows would make a terrific course, he said.

"A disc golf course could coexist with the hiking trails and provide an inexpensive recreational experience for current and future disc golf participant in Hastings and could draw persons to Hastings from around West Michigan," said Gee, who now travels to Lowell, Grand Rapids or Battle Creek to play.

The City Council agreed to work with staff to look into any safety concerns and a course layout. Some council members said they wondered if the metal goals would attract thieves.

Gee said he has four sponsors for individual holes. Nine goals would cost about $2,700. He plans to set up a temporary nine-hole course on the north loop of the trails and would install permanent goals after a test period. The area could easily support more than 36 holes, he said.

"Disc golf is a great sport and the installation of a course would be a great way to encourage additional utilization of the Hammond Road site," City Manager Jeff Mansfield said. "

While this is not Grand Rapids it is definitely worth a drive, any news on the proposed course would be great

From the creator of an awesome disc golf show

"Hey, Michiganders

I heard from a fellow this morning who is hooked up with the GR local access station and will begin submitting DGL episodes shortly. There's hope for broadcasts in Holland as well. More as details develop.

Other folks across MI and elsewhere, contact your local access station and find out what it takes to broadcast a show. Watch your station for contact and membership info. My DVDs are free and so are the stations. A perfect combination.

Joe "

I used to live in ann arbor and it was sweet having hour length disc golf shows to watch on tv. When anyone has any news on air time for the show please post so others can view.
