It is so sad that our discussions of sustainability concentrate around litter! Litter is an unfortunately huge problem, but rather petty in comparison to the dangers of global warming, and the need to find long term ways to pursue our sport in a totally sustainable way. Can we find ways to design, build and maintain courses without burning fossil fuels? Are we composting the grass and brush that we cut, or using these for mulch? Yes, the litter problem is important, it's just sad that we are still spending so much effort on it!!

This effort has not only gained us recognition with casual golfers who come to the course but the other park users like the dog walkers. They see that we're there and we make a difference. The club has recieved alot of possitive attention.

I've always been annoyed by all the trash at our courses. I pick up trash during my round and encourage other golfers to keep the course clean. I was really sickened when I went out to play yesterday; there was a ton of beer cans and plastic bottles strewn throughout the trees. I picked up 2 bags full of trash!

I recently started running the local league. We play twice a week, once at each course. It was recommended that we send out trash bags with the groups during league. I would like to hear someone else's thoughts on this, please.

Eco Star Destroyerswill be available soon @ Disc Player approved retailers.
Sorry for the spam, trying to do our part instead of selling "new" plastic.
Does the smooth top make the disc fly better?
On the clean up note:
We disc golfers every year take part in a River City clean up.
Too bad there is so much plastic bags floating around.
Why is it that "China" can ban them (big polluters) and here We do not?

Here are a couple things we're doing to help keep our park looking good.
1. We found a guy that comes to the park on Saturday and Sunday morning to collect all the aluminum for the trash cans. We told him the trash pick-up schedule so he always gets there before them and it reduces the amount of trash going to a landfill.
2. We are in the process for signing up the club for "Keep Weatherford Beautiful" which is like the many roadside sponsorships. We agree to host six workdays a year to clean the park. We're doing it anyway so why not? This also helps in our relationship with the neighbors of the park, shedding a positive light on us.
