I've been playing for around 18 years or so I guess. I didn't really realize it was that long until I thought about it. I started in high school with an economical yet surprisingly nice Fender acoustic, and a friend and I started playing 60's folk covers and writing our own songs. A few years later we released a CD while in college. By this point I'd saved my money and bought a new 1993 Martin J-40, which is still my most prized possession to this day. I later added a 1997 G&L S-500 solidbody electric as well, which I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410. I'd like a smaller amp, one of these days when I can afford it I plan on adding a really nice 1x12 to my arsenal. I like playing a lot of different styles but mostly enjoy just improvising. Bill Frisell is my favorite guitarist and a big influence on my playing.

A little late but I'd like to pay my respects to the great Les Paul. What an impact he had on not only guitar making but also recording and studio effects. We'll miss ya

Geoff if you can get your hands on a Peavey Ultra 112, you can replace the 12AX7 with ECC83"s and that works great for type of music that you listed. The amp in the 112 model is 60 watts tube so its loud enough for most uses and its not 100 lbs like a lot of tube amps. You can find them on Ebay a lot. Other earlier versions of the same amp are the Butcher, and Triumph any one of these amps are worth their weight in gold they are as reliable as they come. Only problem is every one knows this so they are expensive when you find them, but well worth the cost.

Had a blast Steve call me anytime you wanna throw. BTW, I am currently looking for a gig worthy 1x12 amp. prefer 2 channel, tube...I'm not picky, it just needs to sound great...I play in a cover band 70's, 80's, classic rock, dance, a little country...I don't need a high octane, super hi-gain modern sounding amp...any suggestions?

My Gretsch is an early 70s solid body (small). It is a "Baldwin Era" guitar from what I have been able to distinguish so far. I wish it was a 50s or 60s model. Great feel and awesome pickups.

Geoff is a Roc throwing Strat pickin fool. Fun talking guitars at the Ice Bowl with ya.

Stopped playing for about 10 years. Started back recently after getting my son an acoustic. All I have is a Fender Classical Acoustic and a Gretsch solid body electric with a Peavey Classic amp.
