Disc Fever

"Disc-Fever"
Adapted from “Sea Fever” By John Masefield (1878-1967).

I must down to the course again, to the rolling hills and the sky,
And all I ask is a stable disc and a breeze to steer her by,
And a level rip and the chain’s song and the target shaking,
And the wild flowers in the rough, and a new dawn breaking.

I must down to the course again, for the call of the aced drive,
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a clear day with the seasoned discs flying,
And the shanked shots and the blown putts, and the missed bird’s crying.

I must down to the course again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the parkway and the fairway where the bogey’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Comment by Calico Jack on October 28, 2008 at 12:44pm: Good luck Lance and remember on the long marches to keep your chin up. Both metaphorically and literally. If you hang your head while marching it narrows the trachea, keep your chin up and it's easier to breathe. Trust me! :)
