Does anyone pay attention to/use the marked pars? When I first started playing, I did, but everyone I play with seems to use the "Rule of Three", and so I have gone over to that. As my average score is usually around 64-66 for 18, this is much more disheartening and frustrating.

I can certainly understand the argument that playing to the marked pars limits your development, as a birdie 4 on a par 5 seems pretty good, whereas the hole is really probably accomplishable (if that's a word) in 3.

What do others think?
