stabilized destroyers

I have seen the new stabilized blue destroyer and to me it is much more stiff and domey than the other star plastic. I also noticed some white swirls in the plastic. I recently found two destroyers that felt very very similar but were a pinkish color with a production stamp. I am wondering if anybody knows if the process was done before the release of the blue discs or if it may have been stumbled upon during production runs. Has anybody else found any discs that are similar to these?
