Just to toot our horn a bit: Disc Golf Course Review lists 45 courses in the state of Washington. Out of a 5 point scale, only 7 courses share the high score (for WA) of 4. Lakewood is one of those and has been reviewed more than the others (10 times). I hope we can preserve most of the length with the upcoming changes. With improved signage and trash cans, we might just up the ratings.

Fixtures? Like a bathroom mirror or a garbage disposal?
I don't think I can break away today, but let me know if there is Thursday rounds afoot in the future.

I have to drop off my car for more fixtures, and seeing Underworld Rise of the Licans, or else, I would have been in...sorry. Bad timing. But we're tagging today around 12:30 or 1PM - at Lakewood or SeaTac don't know yet. Gill is going to let me know.

If you end up at Lakewood make sure you bring the paddle boat and at least 1 oar.

Hi Friends of Hicks Lake folks,

Before everyone gets crazy with year-end revelry, I wanted to remind you about the “Friends of Hicks Lake to Friends of Skyway Park” meeting on January 15th! I believe this is going to be an informal sort of meeting, with the main agenda item being an information and experience exchange between the two groups…the Skyway Park folks are just getting started, and I know they are eager to hear about/learn from FoHL!

Here are the details:

Thursday, January 15th

6:30 – 8 pm

Skyway Library meeting room

614 S 126th St, Seattle 98178

There’s parking at the library - for directions, visit: http://www.kcls.org/skyway/

I’ll send out another reminder in January!

Happy holidays,

Frana Milan, King County Gov

At the corner of 108th & 8th sits the White Center Public Health Dept. and there are two houses along that fenceline (Holes No. 17 and 13).

Lake Hicks, Lake Garrett, and Lakewood - the Friends of Hicks Lake (FOHL) could tell you more about that. email: Dick Thurnau for that information.l

I checked the King County Property Appraiser. Google had just drawn a bad boundary. I was referring to a house along SW 108th Street. The county owns that large building on the corner of 108th & 8th, so some of that wooded property is county, but Google included a private parcel as well. The Property Appraiser lists the lake as Lake Garrett, but USGS lists it as Hicks Lake, indicating that Hicks is the historical name. Any idea what was behind the County's name change?

I only know of one house that is park property and that is the large house at the lower entrance of the park where a parks employee lives and is the lady who opens the gates each morning and closes them at night.

We received permission from the School District to put in holes 7-11. That area of the disc golf course was unplayable and it was covered with scotchbroom. With several hundred volunteers and hundreds of hours of work, we were able to clear that area.

The back didn't used to get mowed and we had to mow it on our own. Just recently the parks department has included hole 7 in their mowing plan.
