Mine would be the 1st time I played there. I threw a Valk that got caught in the wind and ended up rolling a few hundred feet downhill into the lake. It landed upside down and throughout the rest of the game I watched it float farther and farther away.

My favorite La Mirada story is a humbling one. I was in 10th place last year at -3 in the SoCal Championships through two rounds, and I had parred the first 12 holes in round three. I was playing smooth golf, had only made one bogey the whole tourney. I was on 15 backside, and I threw my drive over the fence. I then proceeded to throw my upshot perfect, but it caught an edge and rolled all the way down the hill OB. Missed the 35 footer for bogey and took a 6pp. Bogeyed 2 of the 5 holes the rest of the way and before I knew it, I was in 26th place and out of the cash. That helped keep me motivated to improve through the winter, because I knew how close I was.
Hmmmm. I remember when I was new watching one of the locals (Frankie) throw a roller to hole 5 across the path. It was a sky roller and hit half way there then rolled right to the pin. I was like "WTF how'd he do that?" That truly inspired me to get better. Now I can anhyser all the way there but throw the roller every once in a while just 'cause of that memory.
My favorite was playing SoCal last year, on Sunday, back 18, hole 14 (double mandy between the street and parking lot). The Santa Ana winds were blowing a pretty steady 30 mph, with gusts over 50, and on that hole the wind was blowing straight across, rt to left. No matter how hard any of us threw, our discs would just get blown straight left, and would end up all the way on the other side of the street. The wind was so strong, none of us could make the mandy, let alone get close to the basket, and putting from farther than 10 ft was dicey. It was so ridiculous, and so funny watching the discs fly out into the street again and again, I was in tears from laughing so hard.
