Our club currently runs 2 leagues both following a singles format.
We use a program written by a local league member
Our leagues run 21 - 22 weeks depending on the calendar.
We run 4 divisions in our main league and 2 in the smaller league.
Our main league is at a park with 2 full 24 hole courses, you must play at least 10 rounds to be eligible for prizes, and 5 each on course in our big league, the other rounds just give you a chance to improve your points as our program uses your 10 best point rounds to determine your place in your division.
We post the scores to a program; the program assigns points based on how you do against your average within your division.
Divisions are based on your average. 0 < 53, 53 - 57, 57 - 61, 61 + at the larger league. The smaller league is 0 < 59 & 59 +.
So if you are in the 61+ league and your average is 65 you shoot a 61 4 strokes better then your average if nobody shoots below there average by better then that you get 10 points, 9 points etc. ties would get 9.5 or 8.5 etc.

Our club for our spring league everyone plays against thier own average. This makes it fair to pros or ams.

Weekly Points awarded are as follows:
5 points for attending
5 points for scoring at or below your Current Average*
5 points for each stroke under your Current Average*
* Current Average is average of Last Three Valid Scores
* Current Score is NOT VALID for calculating Average if 20% > Current Avg
30 point bonus if you beat your average three weeks in a row!!
Bowl offs will not be permitted.
At the end of the season prizes are distributed based on points.

And players can still be paid out weekly on first second third and so on

Hope it helps

I run our local handicap every Sunday morning and have a hard time getting new players involved. As I am at the first tee set up with my cash box and handicap printout I tell all the new players what we're doing and how it works but most people just say "oh no thanks" or "I'm not good enough". Any ideas on how to get some of these people involved? I have a feeling it's a money thing. They have an idea in their head that they will just lose their money and have no chance of winning even though it's handicapped. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've been qualifying for the summer league. You need to play atleast 4 weeks to have a score. It's cool. Everyweek we play a different course, have fun and hang out.
