The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I would love to see some progress on the Ridgeline Park expansion, design, and build a new course on the over 200 acres of land acquired from Arlie Co. I think there is a lot of potential for a great course behind Lane Community College. If any one has any new info. on what is going on with this, please post it here. Any thing I can do to help, Eugene needs a premiere course for dedicated golfers to play!

I agree with Tab, Has the city/county looked into the survey results from the website and if so what is the plan going forward. Maybe Dave B. can shed some light on this.
Thanks for the response John, I know this is a bad time to be trying to build courses, and CGDGC still has a lot of work left, which I will be apart of, but the sooner we can get the ball rolling, the better. Maybe, if the weather gets better, we can get out there and see what kind of land we are looking at, and where some good placements for disc golf holes could be. It may be jumping the gun, but I would like to involved this time. I do have experience with this kind of thing. They were designing something different for Alton Baker, and I hope it will be like Andrew Rich's original design.
I'll have 4 hours twice a week to be out there working starting in January so I figured I could pitch in wherever possible. I'm going to take the community advice we got a one of the meetings and just start playing up there.
The planning process for this parcel won't be complete until next fall, and disc golf is definitely not a sure thing. Let's keep our hopes up, but be patient. I haven't been to the site yet myself but although it sounds suitable for a course, I think there are some fairly significant practical issues to be worked out like parking and access. My understanding is that it's 1/4-1/2 mile from any possible parking to the parcel.

As far as going to the parcel, I'd make sure it's allowed before you start playing disc golf there. I don't know what the current ownership and access rules are, but if you don't have permission from the owner, it wouldn't help the cause in the long run. Seemed to me like we were closer to a course at Buford Park than Ridgeline, but I haven't heard anything new about that for a while.
Thanks Matt, for the input, it sounds like you've been keeping up on what's going on, for the most part. I haven't heard of Buford Park, but if it will get a new course built then we should definitely should pursue this avenue. I'm for anything that could get this area a nice course which would be closer to the Eugene area, and preferably, something PDGA worthy! I know the parking situation for the Arlie Co. acquisition could be a problem, maybe the best access would be through LCC's south parking lot, but I'm not sure who owns the land just north of the Arlie property. Maybe it would be worth looking into, but I will check out Buford Park. Keep the community of golfers informed of any developments you here of Matt, Thanks!!

I didn't realize Buford Park was Mt. Pisgah, but it is worth looking into where the golf community stands on getting something there. I would be for that. Thanks again Matt! Stay in touch,

I call it Buford Park, because the "Mt. Pisgah Arboretum" is within Buford Park, both of which are on Mt. Pisgah....clear as mud!? Anyway, the "Mt. Pisgah Arboretum" is a separate entity and would not want a disc golf course and has a lot of vocal supporters in the community, so I think it best to refer to the possible disc golf course as Buford Park instead of the more common Mt. Pisgah to alleviate misunderstanding of where the proposed course is located.
I've been out there, and assume the proposed course would be located across from the equestrian area. I think this could be a great location for a course, depending on how much of the land we could use. There is a lot of elevation and trees, and a trail through the hill, which looks like a good area to have a very challenging course. It could end up being very long, with some nice, long, downhill, drives, especially if we have the whole side of the hill to work with. Let me know if you have any other info. on the progress if this venue. Thanks Matt!!

Last I heard a design was proposed a while back and there was some meetings and discussion with the Lane Co. parks guy. But I don't know if a proposal was ever submitted or what the status is currently. The EDGC is working on it and Rebecca probably knows what's going on.
Has any one got an update on what's going on with this course? Has any one put a renegade course up yet if so are the holes marked (ribbons?)?
Sorry John, I've been busy with finals in school. I had walked through Buford Park awhile back, and I have a proposed design on the front page of this site, but there is nothing marked at Buford, or Arlie, as far as I know. There is still a lot of politics involved to make anything happen on either course. I would like to get something started on one or the other. I believe Buford Park would be an easier transition to building a course. I had a guy, who was a member of Friends of Mt. Pisgah, give me a call. He told me they would be open to discussions on a course there, but they would be interested in how we could preserve the wildlife there, or what we would be willing to do to help. Mt. Pisgah is off limits, but Frank Buford Park has some land they would be willing to talk about. Let me know if you want to be apart of discussions, if they ever happen. I'm happy to see someone else interested in getting another course started!

And whatever you do - DO NOT put up a "renegade course" or start playing in either of these areas. That's not going to help, it would hurt.
