Thanks to all who came out to the first Airport Lakes Park handicaps last weekend. From a consensus of the attendees, it looks like we will be doing a handicap round on the first Sunday of every month at Airport Lakes Park starting at 10:15am. If the demand grows we will expand to more times per month. Cap's will continue on Saturdays at BFP at Turkey Lake as always.

Signs were installed on Monday 3-14 including the map so the course is marked now.

The course/park is open for play. Post any feedback you may have.

IS the course open for play as of right now??!!?!!? Or do we have to wait for the opening?!?!?!?

News I didn't have more than an hour before I posted it.

I'm not setting the dates, just reporting on the ones they want.

News I wish I had 6 hours ago about the opening change.

Terry, apologies but that date has, once again been moved. I expect that the ODGC handicap will still take place, but the City officials needed to move it to May 2 at 5:30.  Please spread the word. It is being referred to as a "ribbon cutting", but a presence of numerous disc golfers would give the City of Orlando officials a good impression. Would it be possible (just this once...) to bring the down-low dubs to Airport Lakes on this date? (Yes, it's a Monday)

Thanks, all.

BTW...more specific directions. 7098 Shadowridge drive, Orlando, FL. 32812.

Toll rd 528 (Beachline) exit 11. N on Semoran (436) to 1st light. Left (west) on N. Frontage rd, 200 yds. Right on Forbes Place, 200 yds to stop sign. Park entrance is straight ahead. 1st tee behind restroom buildings.

Two tees and two pins per fairway = 4 ways to play each 9 or 36 variations.

As of 03-14, the map, rules and tee signs are in place, as well as new # plate art. Still some minor work to be done, but it's ready to go. Just like RCNP, our area of Airport Lakes is a nature park. Please take pride in our new course. Respect the trees and use the provided trash receptacles. thanks. Hos

Airport Lakes Park Grand Opening - April 2

On April 2 at 10 a.m. the City of Orlando will officially open the new disc golf course at Airport Lakes Park in the Orlando International Aiport area. ODGC will be participating in the ceremony and then hosting a handicap round immediately following the ribbon cutting.
Airport Lakes Park is located in the NW corner of 436 and 528. From 436 take either Judge Rd or N. Frontage Rd to the west and then turn onto Shadowridge Dr. Park is on the west side of the street.

The Airport Lakes disc golf project is down to its last couple of weeks. All 18 baskets are installed. Please consider assisting us with building tee frames on Wednesday, Feb 23 and helping us pour them on Thursday Feb 24th.

The following week we plan to adhere to the same schedule, building and pouring the remaining 8 tees on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3.

It's not such a big job if everyone pitches in.

Huge thanks to Dave and Bill for assisting Chad and I with the basket install, some pad prep, deadwood relocation and giving the course a test-run.

Hope to see you there!
