Hey all, I'm sorry but I have to disagree about DGM. I felt it was okay but my problem lies with Rich the Founder & Executive Editor. I did not receive issue #3 & called him on 3 separate occasions to have a replacement sent. I'm still awiting this issue!!! This, in my opinion, is what cost him the chance to supply us again for '09. I also hope that the PDGA does as good of job as it has in the past with whatever they bring to the table. Peace & happiness to all this coming New Year, Dendog ;>}

I agree with Matt.
Again I thought FDM was very good and not "as" biased as a PDGA mag will be.

I don't know how well a magazine from the "sanctioning body" of a sport can do.A news letter maybe, but it seems as though a third party private publication would be more successful. Print media is driven primarily by advertising, subscriptions and lastly content. I don't know what type of conflict of interest may occur on the part of the PDGA when selling advertising. It seems like a private company would have more freedom to explore different opportunities of new sponsors,and ambassadors. I really think it is more important to market the individuals of the sport as apposed to the sport itself. Once people have a vested interest in an individual athlete, their desire to learn about the sport grows exponentially. Its not unlike what the Xgames have done for many action sports, introduce the athlete, tell their unique story, build a fan base, and viola people who have never even seen a dirt bike in their life, know all about Travis Pastrana, and dirt bike jumping! We missed the boat on promoting Ken Climo the Tiger Woods of disc golf, but we have a very marketable story in the Jenkins, a brother and sister, raised on the sport, now coming into their own as professionals and world champions. Is that unfair to Dave Feldberg, Nate Doss, and other top pros? Probably, and thats why it would be difficult for the PDGA to put out a publication without bias. Just my opinion.

The PDGA does not need a magazine for news purposes because it has a website. The PDGA needs a magazine, if at all, for promotional purposes. So one issue a year so it could be shown to potential sponsors or parks departments. After that, why spend the money printing on paper?
