DownRiver Disc Golf Course

Just kicking off a spot to discuss DownRiver...

Judging by Eric's post, there are some people who may not be 100% for Christopher's redesign.

I'll have to reserve judgement until I play some of the holes in the spring without snowy teepads and fairways, but it may be good to discuss alternatives before a layout is placed in the ground.

http://nidga.sportboard.net/washington-f17/downriver-proposal-t36.h... is a link to a way to fix Downriver by keeping a 21 hole layout (probably 20 for tournaments). It requires a lot less work than a whole new 18 hole layout and would keep more of the current course intact. It solves all crossing fairway and erosion issues.

Please check it out and let me know how it stacks up vs. C-Re's 18 hole layout. Keep in mind that it is compatible with a lot of the proposed alternate pins/tees from Christopher's layout as well. Comments/constructive criticism welcome, especially from club members.

Christopher says that the club is set on installing an 18 hole layout, but checking out more options until it happens couldn't hurt.

My proposal is in blue with yellow numbering, and C-Re's is in red. I didn't include C-Re's alt pins/tees for the sake of readability, but they would need very little revision to work in both layouts.

I was playing High Bridge the other day, and conversation came around to the consideration of a new 18 hole layout for Downriver, and the concerns about some of the changes, or the layout in general.
I think everyone agrees the course should be made to flow more like a golf course, without the crossings that slow casual and tournament play down, and frustrate and endanger players on all holes concerned.
There's a SDGA meeting coming up this Sunday, at the Season Ticket, 6:00pm. Why don't some of you golfers out there bring in some ideas? There has to be an answer. That's too beautiful a piece of property to not have a top notch course on it.
