Independence MO has a couple recycle spots that collect from Friday thru Monday. I tend to recycle about 99.9% of what would be trash from normal household functions e.g. paperboard/cardboard, plastic, and food cans. It makes me SICK to see neighbors that have not just one - but two - HUGE trash bins at the curb most every week.

There are a few places around that pay anywhere form 35¢ to 50¢ per pound for aluminum cans too. Many schools not only collect newspapers but recently added #1 & #2 plastics. Only one place in town collects glass and electronics, so I keep a separate trash can just for these. It's a little extra work, but definitely worth it.

Thanks for caring :)

that is an awesome idea about the reycling bins at the park

If we could get recycling bins set up at some parks through a local club, we could use that money to better the course.

Nice club, Drx49er, we really should never leave anything manufactured out on a course. As Ben often likes to point out, "If you carried it out in your bag full, then it still fits in your bag empty, and it's lighter now. Carry it out!"

Put the bottle caps in your bag and pitch them when you get to a can. There should be cans placed every few holes. If not, then talk to the park to get some more. Trash of any kind doesn't belong on the course.

That course in Michigan, with the bottle caps, was it Cass Benton? It's a horrible idea. It's just trash on the ground, and when it floods they wash away into the river. It's art by pollution. Fine if like that stump, not OK on the ground at the course.

The bottle cap path is a cool idea. I saw this at a course in Michigan and started to do this at my place on log seats around my campfire pit at my place. I put the word out to my friends to save bottlecaps for me. Sweeet

great club! i recycle, reuse or compost just about everything. it doesn't make sense to me to throw things that won't decompose into the earth.

Come visit the North Side Chain Gang club. We are all about keeping the courses looking good and trash free. I guess I like to recycle to. But I love to see a well maintain course.
