When you bag ace #1, what will you do with the disc???

This was a question that came to me a few days ago. I wondered if, by some miracle, I managed an ace this year, what I would do with the disc I aced with. After a little thought, I decided I would pay the ultimate tribute and retire the disc permanently. I'm not a big fan of owning a disc and not throwing it, but in the case of my first "ace disc", I feel an exception can be made.

How about you? What will you do with your first "ace disc"?

I have friends who have retired their ace discs, and other friends who just write the hole, position and date but keep on chucking them. I'm not exactly sure what I would do. Probably wont make a real decision until I see what disc I hit my ace with finally. I think I would retire the disc though.

Yep. Write the course and hole number, have the group sign it, and hang it on the wall. But only on my first ace disc. Any subsequent ace discs will still fly.

What Chainz-4-Brainz wrote sounds pretty good to me. I would write on it the hole number, the date, and have everyone that witnessed it sign it, and then retire it. If you continue playing with it the writing might rub off (especially on some of the cheaper plastics like DX or if you continually wash your discs like me).

Its a tough call. I have a feeling that when I hit ace#1 it will be Hole 13 Rolling Hills from the shorts. Only problem is I only throw my Star Aviar on this hole. I have another Star Aviar in my bag but it doesn't seem to fly the same as the yellow one I usually use. And it is my favorite disc. Its the disc whenever I really get into a sticky situation I get this amazing upshot with it and it saves the hole for me.

If its as I predict than I'll write the course, hole, date and have the witness sign and keep chucking. If its not and I'm somewhere else not throwing the Aviar, I'll do the same disc marking but on the front instead of the back and it can go up on the wall with other discs that I own but am collecting.

Might be bad luck but I doubt it, I think the 'Disc Gods' will understand that I don't want to retire my favorite disc

I would have all on my card sign the disc and retire the disc permanently. I have alot of friends that throw their ace discs later and lose them and say " I wish I wouldn't have thrown that".

The first one will probably get retired, mainly because the disc I keep coming closest with is a beat up Roc that should almost be retired anyway. But I agree with C-4-B, after the first one, keep-em flying!

Hit it on Monday, but don't want to risk losing it.
Got $20 from the guys on my card so I just bought a new one.

I went and threw it today just a few holes after I got my first ace. My son was there so I might retire it, but chances are I will not. It is now my favorite disc in the bag.
