The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Formed to overthrow DICTATOR Snapper! We really need to unite and put our heads and pockets together in order to build our own course and have things the right way, done the way it should be, not the way one man says, but the way we vote it to be.

Doc you know better than me, I haven't attempted anything just listening to people and not sure how accurate the info is. just thowing out idea's to see if anything sticks. I didn't realize the permits cost. totally understand the Snapper monopoly though. So let's hit up SDG&E, it would be like Whittiner on the power lines and that park is awesome.

But let's golf tonight!!! I'm with Justin, let the rebels unite!!!

I beg to differ, if we give money to the city via permits, they will see that as a revenue source and may even be less willing to create a new free course in which they will not receive revenues.

This city should be no different than any other city in the nation, we should have access to, and be able to develop under utilized park spaces of which within the city of San Diego and the County at large are very numerous.

Safety will improve if we have many courses (with less traffic on each of them) and then we will be able to share the spaces much like El Dorado and LaMirada.

I don't think we will be able to work with the city for as long as Snapper Pierson has connections within the political sector, he has undermined at least 3 separate efforts in the past 10 years alone....once opposing one of his best friends, Rick Bays in getting a perm course in at Montgomery Waller Field. Snapper is only defending his monopoly I don't fault him, but do not underestimate his political connections. I believe we would be better off working with the County or SDGE as they have vast tracts of land that are not being utilized.

There is some of my logic, Justin and I have spoken about this before and think we concur in our viewpoints (I could be wrong).

Anyone up for some Rogue golf tonight in Balboa park?

We can meet behind the Space museum at 1700, that is 5 PM for you civilians!

Bring your baskets and bring your lights.

I've heard the city has been willing to give us permits to set up temporary courses. Maybe if we go to them enough asking for the permits, they might get used to us and see there really is a demand as well. Like Bayside, if we can get a permit to play there once a month as an actual tournament, show the city the size turn out and how organized it can be, maybe they'll listen and pay attention.

The rules depend on where you set up the course. Private property is easy, public property depends on the jurisdiction of the property, BLM, County, State, and City properties all function under different rules where the city government in San Diego is the least yielding to the idea of more courses here, the City of San Diego has stopped at least 3 courses from being installed in the last 10 years alone.

Moral of the story is if you can find a piece of under-utilized property that would work for a disc golf course outside of the city of San Diego you chances of success are much greater.

San Diego should be disc golf nirvana the very mecca for all tourneys but the city of San Diego's government does not like forward thinking nor do they serve the people with the best interests of the people. Tirade over....

Anyone interested in assisting me draft a business proposal for the outlying cities and San Diego County in why we need more disc golf courses. I think we can make a very strong business case.
