here is a question and an idea for tournaments - please express your opinions, ideas and comments.
For all of those that pay the fee for an Ace Pool - they will be
required to mark any Metal that they get from the tee pad. "Metal" would
certainly need to be identified to include or not include post, but
let's just say Metal is anything from the basket up. So a beautiful
drive hits dead solid and falls out. That player marks an M after the
final score box and circles the hole. When both rounds are over, if
there's no ace, the player with the most metal gets the ace pool. If
there's a tie with the number of M's, then there would be the normal CTP
toss off for the ace pool just between the tied metal hitting players. I
see this as a two fold benefit.
First, throwing a CTP for the ace pool between an entire field could be
eliminated, thus saving time at the end when players are often leaving
as soon as they finish, leaving some players unable to toss for the
prize they paid to have a chance to win. And then secondly, a player
that just had a bad break on a great ace run would get the prize that
they are more in line for over the player that didn't drive close to an
ace all day but just happened to get a nice roll to collect the Ace Pool
from a CTP throw off. I'm doing this at my next event and I'm anxious
to hear pros and cons from the experts.
