Just lost my full-time job I held for over 9 years, a lot more time for discin in between job hunting in Michigan. Trying not to let it kill my spirit but discin will return me to sanity. Resumes suck!

Well dang! I finally got a job (after 18 months of goofing off) and I feel really thankful. Let's see if I can do some damage around here now ...

I'm back at a new job and boy do I feel lucky! I don't know how many folks applied for the job I got, but I'm sure it was a TON. I had applied for a part time job with the city and there were 79 people after that one. Too bad the city put on a hiring freeze at the first of the year....

I did take a pay cut, but the money is good and the benefits are pretty sweet, too. My husband's glad I'm working. The dog and cats still wish I was home so I could attend to their every need. They'll get over it.

Good luck to everyone else out there looking. Know that I'm pulling for you.

I started my new job 3 weeks ago and I've noticed something about many people I work with. Many of them have had to take pay cuts, move from management to hourly or leave their own business to work for someone else. One guy who works with me used to do loans at a local bank for 30 years. Another guy used to be a truck driver, but couldn't make enough to continue. A GM plant worker making $26/hr was offered early retirement when the plant closed, now has to work for $10/hr to make up the difference. Like me, a woman with retail management experience is now working an hourly wage with a big pay cut!
What's even scarier is, 800 people were interviewed and only 150 were hired. It's nice to know I made the cut! Many weren't so lucky.

With the unemployment rate going up. This may be the year of the Disc. That is if you can afford to play in tournaments. If not, general free course play should increase. Maybe no new plastic for some of us this year. Either way, get out and throw. Winter in over soon and warmer weather is ahead. I am busier than ever right now. I hope that all of the unemployed Disc Golfers can find some kind of work. Check with you local parks dept. Maybe there is a park with a Disc Golf Course that you could work at. Dream Job eh?

I was out of work for 4 months and after these last three days at my new job, I'm wiped out! Mainly feet, legs and back are sore. The good news, my shift is 5am til 1:30pm. Plenty of time to throw plastic, weather and wife allowing!

I actually walked out on my job... silly I know in this economy but I had enough of the shenanigans (to put it mildly.) But now the money is damned near ran out and it's time to get back into it. Anyone in SoCal need a good Microsoft Network Admin? :)
