Home Improvements (Westy Home that is)

There has been a lot of chatter on some things that people want to see improved at Westmoreland so I thought I would start a thread and open discussion on what the club would like to see in terms of improvements at Westmoreland. I've included a short list below on some of the ideas that have been thrown out there.

(I will update the list as people make suggestions)

1. Reader Board
2. Sawdust/Gravel Around Tees
3. Leveling of the Basket areas on hole 1 and 7b
4. Improved Drainage
5. Restrooms

Please keep in mind that this is an improvement thread but lets try to steer away from changing the actual pin positions (there is already a thread for that).

Wood Chips are the best thing for around your tees. CHEAP & very useful.
Soaks up ALOT of moisture & good erosion control as well.
Ask your Parks Dept for a contact in the Maint Dept. They should have PLENTY of wood chips from Park Maint/Cleanup.

Besides the reader board, i think we should focus on getting some gravel around the TEE's. If you have ever played at westy right after a Hard downpour then you probably noticed the almost perfect chocolate coating on most of the tee's. Except it's not chocolate, it's mud. If you've been to Dexter lately you won't notice this but you will notice that they have laid fresh gravel around alot of the tee's, so when it does rain hard, mud doesn't get splattered all over the tee's and not much mud is getting tracked on to the tee's either. I know most of the people involved with this club spend a lot of time at westy in the winter months and I think this would be a somewhat easy upgrade that would make the course look nicer and the drives go farther. woohoo!!

I agree Travis, I also like that dexter has put bark down on several holes as well.

I second the bathrooms. Is there any way to have chemical toilets or something for the tourney on saturday?

Yes Bucks are going to sponsor our tourney by giving us a Porto Potty. Also I talked to the City and they are going to dump a couple yards of wood chips so WE can spread them. I will form a Work Party for tomorrow or Friday. Plus the City will be out there Friday to Pressure wash Tee Pad's. So the Course will look very good and I will expect all to keep it that way.

I don't know if it is feasible, but I wish there would be some way to fix the angle of some of the tee boxes, i.e. 6 & 7. I like the idea of putting some thing around the tee to absorb some of the water and mud, but I think we could do the same thing around the baskets. I also love the idea of bathrooms, I know the last time didn't work so well, but maybe if we could talk the parks into attaching them to the tennis courts. Maybe if the tennis players get involved we can get some out there, we don't need anymore moisture on the plants and trees, if you know what I mean.

Thats the way to go right there.....

Get with the Tennis people and go to the Parks UNITED.

THEY will have more pull than Disc Golfers will. It all comes down to WHOEVER has the most $ has the influence.
Ive seen this with multiple parks depts in my time. They would be a GREAT asset and would SURELY want bathrooms that they could use as well.
