The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Hello,

Wanted to spread the word. John Stone and I represented the Westmorland Disc Golf Club while volunteering to assist the City of Eugene in running the disc golf activity at The Out in the Artdoors. Out in the Artdoors is an "Amazing Race" type of event that put 30 four person teams against each other in a race around Eugene. Other race activities included: Rafting down the river, riding a big wheel on a BMX track, Wii bowling as well as disc golf. We had a GREAT time while we taught teams about disc golf and put them on their way to playing 4 holes at Westmorland. This was many of the participants first time playing golf and some of them said "we are hooked" when they were finished.

We had to keep this one under raps until after the event because of the City wanted to keep their events a surprise for the participants. This is just one of the many volunteer opportunities we have ahead of us. One of the things we have in the works are clinics for the City's after school programs and talk of assisting with other upcoming City events. Let us know any ideas you may have for other ways the Westy club can give back to the community and if you would be interested in volunteering in the future.

Keep chucking em,

Shawn

Way to go Westy.... Good Job Shawn and John. I hadn't even heard about this event. We should find a way to gather info on projects that we could be involved with.
Heck Yeah! Spread the love is something I always say. In this case we had to keep all the details under wraps so any potential racers cant get any clues of what activities they we doing.

This defiantly isn’t going to be the only way we can help out the community. Recently I have done 2 clinics for the children in their after school program and we should be doing that again next year. As these activities pop up more and more we plan to bring in the Eugene Club and anyone that would like to assist in any way possible.

Thanks for the love Bruce!
