Ypsi Dubs Winter Nov 1st 2009

Well Sunday the sun came out and we had an extra hour of sleep, shook off the Halloween sugar buzz and had a great round of golf with every team well below par. The pre-round CTP has begun again. From over the ridge by the parking lot Scott White landed a foot or two away from the practice basket to claim his Ypsi Dubs Winter etched Growler and the honor of passing out some tasty Corner Brewery Sacred Cow IPA to friends. Holly Water on the Sabbath….
I’d like to welcome Sheldon Bowen who joined in this week.

Sheldon drew Matt Swider who finally made it out to Ypsi Dubs as well. Great to see you at Ypsi Dubs Matt.

Sheldon & Matt managed to squeak by Greg Lane and Chris Gee

by a stroke. Peter Kunoff and yours truly had a fun round in this six-um. Peter started out hot grabbing the CTP on hole #1 to start his round off.

Peter dawned his new OG t-shirt out of the Ypsi Dubs mobile treasure chest – a.k.a. my all-terrain disc golf cart.

So I had to pull out my camera and I tried to get a few shots from time to time. I got a few shots of my card and the awards at the end. I put them together in a video on DiscGolfersR.us. I would have inserted some images in this post but it does not seem possible. I’ll try to do this more often if anyone likes the images or videos.

Back to the round - As the weather warmed up so did the fun but the birdies started to elude us. Minus eight was a good showing for a fun day and I promise Peter I will put in some putting practice to be able to pick up those birdies we left behind – No boogies – Sweet!

I unfortunately did not get action shots of the other card. The foursome played faster but I’ll get you next time. I wish I had, as with two minus eights there was some excitement in their round as well. Scott White and Matt Schooley, also with a boogie free round,

had Scott hitting the CTP on 15

, Ending up with –8 for the day. Chris Gee facilitated an OG growler as payoff for his Dirty Dollar style CTP on his selected hole 15. Nice shot Scott and way to add to the fun Chris – THANKS!.

Nick Mucker and Bob D. (Derkacz) had a great round with the third 46 of the day.

Excitement – How about the first Ypsi Dubs Winter ACE. Yeah!!!

Bob D. hit hole 6 and took home half the ace pool which was at $47 and filled the rest of his pockets with 50 Winter Ace points for the Ann Arbor Cooperative Point Series – Jumping Bob into 4th place in the Point Series. Nice Ace Bob.

Hope to see everyone out next Sunday. I have added a few new items to the CTP treasure chest and may make another Ypsi Dubs w/ Chains Growler similar to Chris Gee’s – see it at the end of the Video.

Ypsi Dubs Winter Nov 8th 2009

Well we couldn’t have ask for a much nicer day in November than last Sunday.

Welcome first timers to the Ypsi Dubs Winter League; Casey Cook, Scott Ransley, Jonny Rico, Josh Hawley, Schooley Jr. , Shyon Jarrahzadeh, Dan Whitlock, Dave Munro & Mike Hunt.
Twenty one in all for a great time. The new hot off the press Ypsi Dubs Winter shirts with the awesome Forch logo magic hit the Ypsi Dubs Treasure Chest for CTP booty.

Rob Schaffer (left) was relentless in his quest for the pre-round CTP and victory was his. He walked away with the commemorative Ypsi Dubs Winter etched Arbor Brewery Growler and mutter something about a Spotted Cow, while sharing some Sacred Cow IPA from the Corner Brewery with some luck friends – Thanks! Rob. The Hoppy taste of Victory

So after enjoying the sun and the warming temperatures the scores were tallied and Dan Flanagan and Ben Lengel had tied Terry Calhoun playing Cali for 3rd. Terry showed no mercy as he took the CTP playoff and third place. Dan and Ben did not leave empty handed in forth place as you can see here. Ben also parked hole 4, stealing the CTP from Rob Schaffer and providing Ben the opportunity to pillage through the Ypsi Dubs Treasure Chest.

Scott Ransley managed to pull out second place and make me feel like I helped every now and again with a 44.

Not good enough as Casey Cook and Josh Hawley had to do one better, 43 and the big bucks (disclaimer – “big bucks” as compared to the Chinese Yen which is much smaller in size :-)..

After this round Greg Lane jumped from 7th place to 3rd place in the A2CoPS (Ann Arbor Cooperative Point Series. Nicely done Mr. Lane.
Mike Fortunato still holds on to 2nd 10 points out, with Bob Smart holding strong in the warm weather…. Will Frost Bite double points make the difference or a Winter Ace? Who can catch Bob? Will Bob actually play in the cold? The answer to these and the meaning of life can be found at one of the next A2CoPS league round:
Noon Saturdays at Independence Lake
10am Sundays at Rolling Hills
7pm Wednesdays (Glow) at Bandemer Park.
Schedule, leaderboard and talk board are all here on Disc Golf Scene:

We are currently in the planning stages for the A2CoPS final event, which will take place sometime this spring. More details to come soon.
