Cracked Plastic Classic 09

What an intense day.
CP09 was only my second sanction tournament, the first being the kalamazoo championship 08. I was kind of forced to play am2 this time by Larry. Not a problem, I was actually glad he put me in am2 even though I signed up for am3. Its a pretty sweet compliment for me to be bumped UP a division. I'd much rather do that than sandbag am3. And speaking of sandbaggers...I can't believe how many guys were sandbagging am2! One guy i played with, who was a cool guy and all, had won t… Continue

Working through my Disc Golf time...

I drive to work as the sun rises and when i drive home its dark. The overtime is worth it...but i can only throw like once a week now. I can't believe nate doss can hold a full time job, go to school, and be the best. I'll be fine for now since its so cold out, but once it starts getting nice again this job is going to really start pissing me off I think. Can anyone relate to that? I would imagine there are tons of us disc golf junkies working all day, i'm just new to the crowd and need to know… Continue

INJURED!

My back gave out on me today. No work tomorrow and no disc golf for who knows how long. This really sucks, I'm not the kind of guy that likes that messed up feeling you get on painkillers either. God I need to throw!

Nice! I would say just keep on writing about dg! Maybe local events, leagues, nt events, interviews with pros and td's from your area, etc.

I am not trying to stir up the pot......but I have heard differently from others that it was poorly run. I have attended plenty of M2/TADGA events and have enojyed them all. I couldn't make it to this one and it sounds like it was for the better. ...

Just got back from this tourney in Ypsilanti. Mike Michalak did an awesome job running it. He's the TADGA (Toledo Area DGA) guy. First one of his tourney's I've played in, and one of the best. Payouts: 10/10 Huge and Plentiful!!! Disc Selection (...

its true dude. colors make a bigger difference than weight according to Mark Ellis. i've noticed some colors of certain discs definitely fly slighlty different when they're the same weight and mold. i guess certain dyes force the disc to dry (afte...

What is up, Sean? How are things lately? Have you been golfing? I'll try to get out of bed one of these Sunday mornings and meet you at Oshtemo for league.

I'm playing Mark Roberts' dubs tomorrow at Begg Park. REG from 915-1015. tee off at 1030. Get a partner and come out. Novice is 20$, Pro is 40$ (per team) Ace pool and 50/50 are individual games.

Sean,
I feel as you about the virtual gift. But...as corny as it may be...it is kinda kool. I would just use it for birthdays. Or if someone I know got an ace. But as it currently stands....I am not willing to pay Pay Pal for credits. Since I do not know where the money goes.
If The Adminstrator found a way to use our personal points as credits for gifts...I would send gifts for reasons I stated. I actually liked your gift of a virtual Avenger SS. I do not have it in my hand, but I do have it in my head. Mental gifts are tits too. Plus...in this economy...alot less expensive. Also... I thought I heard someone say one time..."It's the virtual thought that counts". (c;

ACTUALLY...

The original FTF plan for Chain Reaction was to have 18 holes at Holly Woods and 18 holes at a temp course on a ski hill 2 miles from the course. We talked to the owner telling him that we would run an event there on Friday night & then awards at the lodge. He could sell all of the beer and food that he wanted. For some reason he was not interested... : (

I understood where you were coming from. I went back & read what I wrote and could totally see where you were coming from. I should have been more clear and it was mostly my fault for that. No worries on my end. ; )

If the tournament was not advertised at 96 and near full 2 weeks before the event I would have not used the holes. The state park has been GREAT to work with but the holes were supposed to be in the ground in May, not July 20th. We talked options as a club but were were left with not a whole lot. Oh well, getting them ready for 2010.

Well, just to further say, what I had meant was that after talking with your friend on multiple occasions leading to the tournament that he would NEVER do anything nefarious or slight of hand as the original poster had indicated. Any mistakes that were perhaps made were made out of not running many events as there can be a lot of things going on and I would not believe that he would be doing something like that on purpose. Heck, I still consider myself at the lower end of TD experience and I make mistakes. I guess I could have canceled Chain Reaction and then the rest of the tournament dates for 2009 since we would have been bankrupt...

Sean,
Fort Custer IS a great course and I was disappointed the way the DNR handled the date of there invasive tree removal. I was told it would be after Custer's Last Stand. But not to be. So now...there is work to do to get those holes re fit.
Also I am sorry Custer's Last Stand was not incident free. But happy to know that the tourney produced more disc golfers than the two previous stops of the Park Your Drive series. In the end...I believe the tournament to be a success. Thanks for your contribution. Hope to see you at a tournament or on a course somewhere. BTW...thanks for the cudo's.

Sean,
First, I have to commend you for standing behind Mr. Curtis. You got moxie. But, you are doing it again. Mr. Curtis was not souly responsible for For Custer disc golf or Irving Park disc golf. Others were involved with both projects. To put Mr. Curtis on a pedestal for his achievements is ridiculous. I know you put him in a positive light, but he pales to others involved. I would appreciate it if you would include the word "others" in regards to Mr. Curtis and Fort Custer or Irving Park.
He was not single handedly responsible for Fort Custer or Irving Park.
Thanks,
K.
