Congratulations Craig, another top course built by you. I wish I was around to help out and play the new course. Alaska disc golf is a lot of fun. I have been playing well lately and I always think of the place I learned. Lake Tahoe, and there is no…

Turtle Rock Park Disc Golf Course is In

Last Saturday we finished installing 18 anchors into the ground. Sunday the baskets went up and play has started.

July 26 we started building the fly18 tee pads. We excavated the rocky ground and sunk pressure treated 2 X 4's grade level. Then filled the tee with decomposed granite. This makes a perfect fill that packs down hard and flat.

Trails have been cleared from the pins to the next tee. Tee sign are next.....if we have time in between rounds.

Markleeville Course Approved

October 21st the disc golf course at Turtle Rock Park was approved by the Alpine County Board. I assisted David Peets (Alpine Co. Assessor) with the presentation to the board. It was a slam dunk. No one was opposed. Their response was "So, you want to build a disc golf course in an unused part of the park, with volunteer labor, and pay for the equipment with private funds? Okay". Yup, just let us use our public land and we will get it done. We are a self sustaining sport. No subsidies for us.

Mosquito course is in

After being away for a few months, I went back to Mosquito to check out the final layout prior to basket installation. Well I was quite suprised to find that 8 of the fairways that were cleared of brush prior to my first visit were over grown with poison oak. I'm told that this will be removed again, and over time the traffic of golfers will keep it down. Well in the mean time I can't play the holes #2 - #8. It's not that you will end up in poison oak on each hole, it's that I won't risk bringin… Continue

New Course in Norcal

Thanks to the Mosquito Volunteer Fire Department, we have a new disc golf course under construction at Finnon Lake. It is ten miles north of Placerville, just off the intersection of Mosquito Road and Rock Creek Road. The route is tight with cliffhanger hairpin turns. Extreme sobriety is suggested for the drive. Once you see the Rock Creek Cafe, you are there!
Project manager, Chris Dillender came up with the brainstorm of adding the disc golf course to inhance the lake, that will include boatin… Continue

Hey Craig,

Tahoe Donner sounds great. It's amazing how far Tahoe Disc Golf has come along over the years and we mostly have you to thank for all your efforts over the years.

Are you heading to the Reno gig this Saturday? Hope to see you there if I can get motivated to go. I can't keep up with all these youngsters these days.

Hello Craig,

I unfortunately didn't get to play the first crane creek. I'm hoping this version of the course compares well to the original. KP is in charge and we do need sponsors. I think we are looking for 500.00 per hole for sponsorship that would get the sponsor signage on the tee. Work party info is listed on the stafford site @ http://stafforddiscgolf.blogspot.com/. I'm hoping to work up a crane creek sponsorship letter and when I do I'll post it and/or forward it to you.

This is the best time of year with everything greened up and the creeks flowing. I can't wait to have crane creek in the ground and finally get a course in Sonoma country. I also have heard that KP has an in with another park in Windsor I think. Good stuff!!!
