"With the ongoing success of both Yucaipa and Prado Regionals, San Bernardino Parks is now looking in to the possibility of a new course in Devore. Good news for the Inland Empire, I think."

Sidearm tips

Things to work on to develop sidearm velocity:

1. A strong finger grip against the wall of the rim with your finger pads. Usually this is the index and middle finger pads. This can be done several ways and there are sites with pictures to help you here. The important thing is to use the pads directly into the wall and not the side of the fingers.

2. Use as quick of a whipping action as you can. Keep your arm loose for as long as you can.

3. The whipping action… Continue

Magic Discs

I don't know if this blog will be useful to anyone or not, but I need to get it off my chest. I have been carrying two high sixties original Star Destroyers in my bag for a long time. One is very worn and is used for long rollers side arm and backhand, and occasional high turnover shots. I still have that one and it's still going strong. What I no longer have, and haven't been able to replace satisfactory yet, is my 168g slow turning Star Destroyer. This was very useful for slow turning shots,… Continue

Snap or Hit

This is something I posted on a forum called, "The snap or hit and how to get it." FYI

The most important thing to focus on, when you are trying to get a snap/hit, is the disc. Not your wrist. The stop of the wrist helps the disc rip off your fingers. Pulling through that action is the other part. What you're trying to accomplish is a heavy rip off your fingers. If the disc slips out it's not good. You need a good grip with good traction. It also helps to discover where exactly… Continue

Hi Dave... Have you heard any talk of running a tournament up in Wrightwood this summer? I hope you are having a good one! - Chris

Hi Dave...I did find some useful things, and I've actually adopted your footwork approach for smaller tee boxes. I recently posted a video clip. As for your comment regarding The Memorial...I haven't played those courses, but I'll bet you can "launch" with all that wide-open territory. I also heard rumor that you designed Whittier Narrows. No wonder I haven't broken par there...yet. :-)

Hello Dave...I went out to Oak Grove primarily to watch you play a few holes during the last tournament. I'm glad I did because it was cool to see you do your thing in person after having read your technique recommendations last year, as I started getting back into this fine sport. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Dave,
I have a question about the Aviar. It is my go to disc for many situations. I carry four or five in my bag in varying degrees of stability. I picked up a new one the other day and for some reason it feels different. Is it just me or did you change something with the plastic?
Peace,
Chas
