Building a Disc Course

After finding out that many locals have disc golf courses on their property I've decided I'm gonna do the same. I got one basket from craigslist made out of bike tires. Hung an old smokestack on a pole....sweet low tone tone pole. I'm building other targets for my little acre and a half. After a lot of online research I've cut up some big ol' 26" tires and an old plastic barrel and found some other misc. junk laying around. My goal is to have 6 to10 targets with varied T-box options. We'll see… Continue

Double ACE Day 2-23-08!!

What a day 2-23-08 -- TWO ACES in the same round on my buddie's private course "Phantom Falls" ..... in the same day. Unbelievable - the first was a skip Ace on #1 (First $ out of his Ace Run pot) and the second was on #16 a short "Annie" with some tree love and in!!! I fell apart scorewise on the back....but it taught me a lot about remaining humble!!!

D's Disc History

Love the game....started in the 80's in Ohio and Michigan. In the early

90's played a lot in Columbus Ohio. Moved to Colorado in 95' and played

some here and there...then I fell in love with Ultimate and ball golf. In 2007

I really got hooked playing disc golf. My favorite driver disc is the Beast. My midrange is the Spider and I putt with a Wizard. I take pride in my putting/mid range game. I love lots of sports, but Disc Golf for me combines Ultimate, Golf, Fishing and hiking.… Continue

Beaver Ranch

Having Beaver Ranch disc golf course put near my Mt. home has inspired me to get more involved with promoting disc sports. I've done some Ultimate clinics and look forward to getting kids involved in Disc Golf here in the Denver foothills.

Haven't gotten the chance to play them yet, but there are 3 courses around Ft Myers (just north of Bonita Spgs) I hear the North Ft Myers course is LOADED with palmetto scrub, and you spend most of your time looking for your discs. There is also one right on the Florida Gulf Coast University campus, and one out on Ft Myers Beach area. The east coast of Florida isn't TOO far from Bon Spgs, and there are plenty of courses in Ft Lauderdale / Miami area. Hope this helps!

Here in the Sarasota area we have North Water Tower Park and Lakeview Park, but there are plenty of other courses to try with a little bit of driving. Contact me when you are coming and we'll see if we can't hook up to play a round! mattone1@verizon.net

Hey, David. Good to hear from you. I'd love to take my family up there. I'm sure my daughter would love it. Just let me know when would be good for you and we'll coordinate. I got into spring fling just before it filled up and I already signed up for Grateful Disc. Can't wait.
