Hi Kevin,
Thanks for adding me to your friends list.
I play untill I couldn't, I entered but didn't play the local Ice Bowl because if the pain and the course was just to rough. Looking at the other folks getting hip replacement. I didn't wait as long as most and while I was in the hospital I did better in physical therapy than anyone else. This is my fist time back at the computer after my hip surgery on the 20th. I am back home moving around the house on a walker. Twenty two staples in my left hip. Damn but they pull. Will be glad to get the staple out.
Just to do my part to make sure they got the correct hip, I took a maker and wrote "Cut Here" with a dashed line on my left hip. The surgon looked at it, laughed and said actualy we will cut here and drew a new line. They also shaved my left side to the mid-line. Nothing like having a cute young thing shave half of your privates while the wife is looking on! When she came in, she started making loops of tape. I thought she was going to wax me! But no, the tape was to pick up loose hairs. Thank God!
I had a spinal block. If you have a choice, go spinal! The side affect was it several days for the full affect of the spinal to wear off. The night after surgery, they got me up to piss and I had to, but I couldn't get it work. I stood there for 10 min with the water running befor anything happend.
My bowels didn't move while I was in the hospital. I had small hard BM after I got home and today I finnally had a normal BM.
Day 1, Jan 20 Surgery, After surgery - PAIN CONTROL! Nurses in every hour for breathing exercises - What fun!
Day 2 - Up at 5:00am to change bed linen. Start PhysicalTherapy. Mostly not to bad, but a couple of the exercises were thought up by someone with no soul! Walk the hall with a walker. Lunch in a group dining room. Could only eat half and I was full. Go to the bathroom unassisted, still need running water to pee.
Day 3 - More Walking the halls and physical therapy. The disc golf had keep me fit and I did better that anyone else. Shower, more PT and Joy of Joy, Go home in the late afternoon.

Day 4 - Up four times in the night, slept in a bed on my back and in a recliner. Out of the house for PT with a private PT. Much nicer! Still HURTS!

Day 5 - Today - Up tree times in the night. Slept with a pillow under my knees. Big improvement.
Can piss normally and finally had a normal BM.

Thoughts:
When you get your "Hip Kit" ( reacher, shower sponge, shoe horn, sock installer) add a foot lifter.

Set up your home to live on one level, grap bars, chairs high enought, bed height.

Hey Kevin,

I haven't played the JCC course in a couple of years. Do you play out there often? Just curious if all the baskets are in and it is not so overgrown that you can't find your disc even if it's in the fairway.

I may be playing out there Sunday morning.

Thanks.
