On behalf of Juliana Korver, I am honored to announce her inaugural ladies-only disc golf event: Juliana Korver Presents La Vie en Rose.

This unique event will take place February 14-15, 2009
at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL.

In Juliana’s words:

"Are you curious why this disc golf adventure has the name that it does? Literally La Vie en Rose translates to “the life in rose”. The English equivalent to this is “life through rose-tinted glasses” or even “life is rosy”.

If someone looks at something through rose-tinted glasses, they see only the pleasant parts of it. It is a way of life. It is an attitude that I aspire to maintain.

La Vie en Rose is a disc golf event that intends to combine many of the pleasant tournament aspects that we have experienced over the years as well as present new ones that will create a wonderful, memorable and rosy weekend.

This event is about warm fuzzies, feeling good and friendship. I hope that you all can experience the weekend through rose-tinted glasses and perhaps even take the attitude home with you to help you appreciate all that is good in life.

This will truly be a unique weekend that I hope and expect you will love."

Juliana has made the initial event announcement in person at the U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championships and on the PDGA discussion board. For lots more information visit the tournament website:

Shawn Harrigan and I are the Co-TD’s for this event. We’d love to have your input, assistance, and sponsorship. Please e-mail mritner@yahoo.com if you are inclined to help Florida welcome the ladies of disc golf to a wonderful weekend of competition and comradery.

Yours In Flight,
Mark “Denny” Ritner

Hi Mindy. Thanks for the comment. :) Hope your trip back from Michigan was good. We got home at like 5:30am!

As for church, I've been jumping around a little lately, but most often I go to Appleton Alliance.

Well, it was good getting to know you a little better this weekend, and I'll see you at league probably this week!

You know ... I think she is tough and likes stuff like Blue Moon. Maybe that's the case. I can't recall. I could probably find out pretty easily and let you know before Saturday.

Looks like a decent Int Women field again this weekend - great to see it.

Maybe I should come up with some traveling trophy among you? I'd be up to sponsor such a thing!

1st Underpar Open- DISC KARMA

Another thanks to Scott and Alexis for the first annual Underpar Open. It was held in Berlin, which is a cute little 9 hole course on the river bed. Scott set up an additional 9 temp holes, allowing us to play two rounds of 18 holes. The course itself is really nice, with lots of interesting landscaping, a nice war memorial... You can tell the locals take good care of it. The river would have been the perfect backdrop to any photograph, and the sun was great! The only real downside is that the B… Continue

Wisconsin Warm Up

As most of you have guessed, Terry forgot the warm for the warm up tour. Short of that, I personally had a great time. I was fortunate enough to have my husband step aside from his spot to play the tournament and allow me to play, which completed a card of 5 interm. women! That's the most women I have ever played with, and the only time I've played with women in my own division. We were all pretty evenly matched, so it felt good to compare to them stroke for stroke. (Unlike shooting with my husb… Continue

Fondy Tourny

Well, one of the ladies that I played with at O'Hauser showed up at the Fondy tournament. It was very nice to shoot with her again. She had a lot of pointers for shooting into the wind. She really made the game fun. It was also nice that she stepped up and helped guide us through the PDGA rules about OB and water and such. I don't know what we've have done without her.

In our first round, we had a younger boy on the card, and I must say, I was very impressed by how handled himself. He shot a ve… Continue

O'Hauser Tourny

Wow. What a fun time it was over the weekend to disc with some ladies. Last year I played the course for the first time at the tournament. I am really embarrassed at how it went, but it was nice to compare this year to last year. I took 60 strokes off of my game in one year. Shows what a little practice can do.

The ladies that were discing were really fun. I haven't played a lot of tournaments, so I don't have a great base of comparison here, but they mentioned that often t… Continue

Umphree's McGee inspired by disc golf?

Likely most of you have heard of this band, and if you haven't, you probably will soon. My cousin had the honor of filming a concert done in his area of Michigan, and then he was granted access to interview them backstage. They are known to be shy to camera interviews, so he was looking for a good ice breaker. I teased him and told him to ask them if they knew they had a following in disc golf. He asked them, and much to my surprise, they were really pleased to hear that, because many of thier s… Continue
