Right so far just the star plastic. Champion would be nice. Cant beat the durability.

I don't think they make a Champion Mako yet.

Does anyone know if there are plans to release the mako in other plasic blends? I really like this disc but have never been a fan of star/esp type blends.

The new Mako is as straight as Ive thrown. Also use the comet on those kind of shots...just take a little of either of those discs.

My baby shoots par!

It took less than a year for my girlfriend to go from shooting 50 over par on our 18 hole course to shooting even. I was soooo proud of her game. Its even more impresive to me because she just started throwing backhand a couple of months ago. Its taken her game to a whole new, more consistant level. Well done baby!

Discin in Ohio and New York

Me and my G-friend just got back from a trip to New York city to see Karens son, who is shipping off to Germany. The trip is Very long but thank God for disc golf. Karen had the forthought to map out a ton of courses on route to the city. We first took in a 20 hole course in Euclid(?) called SIMMS. Great course right on the lake, right off the highway! Some cool holes on a surprisingly well kept, clean public course. It was just the ticket after bein in a car for 9 hours and left us both ready fo… Continue

Getting Pepsi

This may be obvious to alot of people, but the growth, prosperity and eventual acceptance of any new sport depends on one thing...How it televises. Our sport in video form looks at best like the video taken by the best man at a cousins second marriage. The asthetic just isnt there, and as a result, WE are the only people watching. Think about it...If your watching monday night football, and farve drops back to throw his third interception of the quarter( Mad that he left!!!) and the camera struggl… Continue

Mixing it up to keep your bag politically uncluttered

I love loyalty...dont we all. Its the reason the dog is the most common pet,its the reason you tolerate that friend who knows exactly what not to say.Loyalty can be a wonderful and very beneficial quality...it can also be self depricating. This self destructive loyalty reers its ugly head in the form of almost religous preferance for brands of the plastic we throw. How many times have we seen it in the blogs...on the courses...on porta johns everywhere! People pointing out the inherent inadequaci… Continue

You were interested in my take on the star katana, well it performs somewhat like my star valkeryie but a bit more stable,i through it aproximatey 30 times today. We did have a little wind today and it handled it better than my valk but would sill turn over some.1 to 10 rating i would give it a 8 i will use it alot.My favorite drivers are a 175g r pro boss, and a 175g champ groove.Hope he info helped peace, and happy holidays.

hay scot just going through my page and was wondering if you ever got around to playing the west course at rockford. They now have two sets of pin placements for the west side. It is now a much tougher course.

When if she does, place the note in the "comments" part for you. What color etc.
It's my girlfriend's favorite logo too!

Your go to driver is turning into a roller, eh? It sounds like you are developing follow through. Getting better is not a straight line process. You get worse before you get better. Keep on working on it in a field.

During rounds use your normal form. Wait to unleash the new follow through.

Good luck.

Believe it or not you get used to the heat. I've been here for about 24 years, so my blood has thinned out considerably. July, August, and September do get pretty rough, though. The time to come is in the winter. While you guys are digging through snow, I'm playing in 70 degree sunny weather. So you see, AZ has its advantages.

Looking at the video, you lack motion in your torso (hips and abs). Also it appears as though you have decent arm speed, but you are reaching max speed WAY before you get to your release point. Try to gradually increase your speed and hit your max right at releasing the disc. This will "give you the best bang for your buck". A follow thru with your leg woudl not be a bad thing either but make sure if you are going to do that you are still maintaining balance. Remember there is no point in sacrificing accuracy for power.

check out this video, about 55 seconds in:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv76JEe1qUo&feature=related

He's setting up for approaches with no run up, but look at how much his whole body follows thru. If you check out the distance drives, it's different, but watch how much he keeps the torso rotating. That is what I did wrong for a long time (similar concept to my RHFH throwing). Now I yank my front shoulder open and the rest of my body is free to rotate more, and I follow all the way through with the rest of my body, including the hip, and don't worry about "stopping" like I used to. I'm no Climo, but I'm in no pain, either. It's not effort. Not effort at all, quite the opposite.

I would love to help break down your throw for you to get you better distance, but you must recognize that you are potientally throwing to heavy of a disc for your power at this point in time also. I cannot say for sure as I do not know what you are throwing.
