I started playing in January, and I am slowly but surely getting better.  Right now, I'm averaging in the high 60's in a 18-hole round, with one particular shorter course (Bud Hill in Memphis…Continue

Thoughts on Innova Birdie

A quick disclaimer - I'm still new and poor, so I can't just buy new discs on a whim. That being said, I have a SSS Wizard and an Innova Birdie to use as putters.  While I can certainly see why the…Continue

When to Stop Throwing Rounds and Start Practicing?

I recently picked up disc golf seriously in January.  Since then, I have completely geeked out on the Internet, especially since rounds are hard to come by in the winter.  Of course, the great stuff…Continue

My Youngest Doubles Partner

I just had to share that with my wife being a stay-at-home mom to a 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl (redhead, at that), I thought I would give her a little break this afternoon and take our son out for a bit. I thought it would be fun to give him a disc while I did some putting practice.

We get to the course and since I thought he would just throw my spare putter around, I decided that I wanted to throw all of hole #1 and practice at the basket. After finishing the…

First Tourney - Baptism by Ice

I had two goals at my first tournament, the 6th Annual Bud Hill Ice Bowl, just outside Memphis, TN.

1. Place higher than last.

2. Don't lose any discs.

Well, not only did I come in last, but I lost two discs... on the same hole of course. Not only did I card a triple-circle 9 on hole #18, my first round was my worst score ever, at a whopping 82.

Here's the thing: It was so far the best experience I've had in disc golf. First of all, I followed up my 82 with… Continue

Hey!
So hows the putter experiment going? Any of them work out for you?
At 11:04pm on March 30, 2010, RescueRescue said…
Ya, I have found my putting improved with a neutral putter. They just fly nice and straight with just a little to no hyzer at the end. I throw an APX and the Pure reminded me of it.

Peace!

Oh man, that sucks! I love my Gold Line Vision. However, I did find it to be a bit more overstable than the Opto and not as tacky at first. But after a few months, it's just fine. I still like it over my Sidewinder, but my Sidewinder is a bit diff. than the standard versions. It's as flat as a plate, so it's a bit more stable than the other Sidewinders I've thrown.

To "FLIP" means a flying disc changes its flight path more towards an anhyzer route.  How much it flips controls whether the shot merely Flips Up (and goes straight, aka a Hyzer Flip) or Flips Over and bends on an anhyzer line. …

OK my 2 cents...To me Anhyzer is a type of shot/throw were have to even adjust your technique to perform an Anhyzer shot and it's not just rellegated to drives. I've used it ALL over the course and I mean ALL over the course lol!! A…

"turning it over" where I'm from refers to forcing a disc to go left to right rhbh.  We call a turnover shot that comes back a flex shot or an S shot.  Turn according to Innova, refers to high speed turn.  The hyzering…

ROBEY the one. replied to Zach Ellerbrook's discussion 'What Does "Flippy" Mean?'
Eric is correct. Flippy and turn over both refer to the high speed stability or lack there of, coming back is refered to as getting stable or hooking up because it refers to the point where the speed and rotation equal out and fly stable…

In my area, when someone throws a disc that goes Anhyzer, but doesn't come back, they usually say words of the four letter variety.

Yeah in my part of the DG world "turn over" is an anhyzer, I have heard "get stable", "hook up", or my personal favorite "get new" when people wanted a disc to come back on a hyzer.

Well when I say to someone that they didn't "turn it over" I am saying to them that they didn't get it to flip. If someone wants the disc to come back they generally say "come back". So I am not sure that what you are…

Truth be told, Flippy is not something you can really define. Everyone has a different definition. In its most simple form, it means a disc will rotate towards anhyzer. To some people, their "flippy" discs pop up just right on hyzer flips.…

Jim Coonradt replied to Zach Ellerbrook's discussion 'What Does "Flippy" Mean?'
I think you mean that when they say "turn over damn it" they want the disc to flip, that is turn to the right for a RHBH player. There have been a few times when I throw a somewhat understable disc and I am trying to hyzer flip it but…
