New Home for The Players Cup

Sun King Disc Sports has done it again and secured a great facility to serve as the new home for The Players Cup, which is slated to switch to a spring date in 2010.

I enjoyed the opportunity to co-design the first 18 of 27 holes on the former 9-hole ball golf course in Ocala, Florida.

The course, as is features blue, white, red, and green tees and plays to par 65. The Players Cup "gold" layout is in the works and will only be available around tournament time each year.

The greens fees to wal… Continue

I recently played both the Original and T2 courses at Bill Frederick Park in Turkey Lake, near Orlando. Love the T2 the most....where is the Live Oaks park you have in your profile?

On the next course that will be going in there will be more than 20 acres.
Lotsa room..... for about anything.
When a parks department approaches you and says that they want to put a course in (all expenses paid), you put a course in and make it work.
Reed Canal is such a course and gets lots of use.
It's doing what it was intended, reaching new disc golfers.
If they want a better challenge, Tuscawilla is down the road.
With more courses going in. DeBary and so on...
If and when disc golf makes $$$$, than we can be very selective on where and how disc golf courses are established. Start and elite level course with 3 tee pads and 3 pin positions per hole for all levels of play.
Let you know when the next bigger course goes in.
Pleas in the future, realize that disc golf is still in its infancy, and change comes slow.

What did you shoot there?
I hope -10 or better....
The woods shots are all parkable and so is every other hole.
If a new golfer can learn the short game the better....
It works and concrete is on the way.

When originally approached (asked) to put in a disc golf course, I was originally going to put in 9 holes.
The parks department wanted to pay for 18 baskets, instead of 9.
Why argue when the expense was free!
Glad that 18 holes went in. It would not be used as much.
Yes some holes are short, but after installing it (had my doubts) it seems to work for a great beginner course.
Sometimes it is nice to put in a user friendly beginner course.
It serves its purpose. Getting new people playing.
And you can get a round in at lunch time too.
The next course will be 'championship level.'
Word of advice to you, don't always think that every course is meant to be on big levels. And they don't have to be.
Thanks.
Reed Canal gets great exposure to those that would not have any at all.

What's up with your review of Reed Canal Park?
This is a beginner course.
Tee pads are next.
Why is it that someone puts down a beginner course that brings NEW people to the sport?
Had help from top designers on this. Yes America is about free speech.
How many NEW disc golfers, went to Red Hawk. New players dislike Tuscawilla....
Can you explain yourself?
