nitegolfer Raked chains with a Mako and other stuff

Raked the chains on Hole #9 at Brahan Springs with a new mako. Did not stick, unfortunately, but it is a good disc for this 198ft hole. Also, finished up an initial telephone interview for a job outside Huntsville. Continue

Dylan Townsend Organized Club Positions

Hey Everyone - we're finally starting an actual organized Club here in Fairbanks - since none of us have ever been part of an actual club we were hoping for input on what kind of board positions are most sugested or preferred - as far as Pres, Vice Pres, Sec., Tres, etc. We are in the process of trying to create more organization in the newly born disc golf culture in Fairbanks. As of now we have a doubles league as well as an abudance of players who would be interested in participating in a mor… Continue

Benjamin Wolfe New Record!

Well, a new record for me anyway. I have officially played 11 days out of 31 days in the month of October!! 8 rounds of 18 and 3 rounds of 27. My goal is to play all winter, as well. I got my First Run Star Mako 177g and it is freakin fantastic!! The glide is amazing and it doesn't flip for me. When thrown hard it just stands up and goes straight. It holds a hyzer, holds an anhyzer, and does pretty much what ever you want to make it do! I need to order more. I want a 180g and maybe another 177g… Continue

nitegolfer Feuding Clubs

I don't know if you are lucky enough to play DG in a town that does not have 2 or more feuding DG clubs and if you do then you probably have seen DG suffer greatly. Courses don't get taken care of because people are too busy plotting their next move to screw over the other club and with all of the BS flying around, you can't really trust anyone. All about a game, no less. The club that I am affiliated with chose to try to rise above this by moving weekly leagues around, not run events on the sa… Continue

Rich Koski Teepad design?

I was asked a while ago, "Rich, in a perfect world what would be the optimal teepad design?" After a lot of consideration I think I've realized the elements needed for a perfect tee pad. For natural pads: First it must be a mixed surface. Hard-pan with about 15% pea gravel scattered evenly on the top. The pad should never be level. A minimum of an 18% grade (front or back). If the pad can go up and down bonus points will be awarded. KEEP PADS SHORT! Don't ever give the… Continue

Steve McLean Toe dragging. Solution found

Alright, I'm a toe dragger. I started dragging playing tennis. I continued with disc golf. My shoes never wear out on the bottoms, only on the tops. I like good, comfortable, water proof shoes. They cost about $120. So far, REI has let me take them back for new one's at no cost five times. I haven't bought anything else there. I'm a bit embarrassed taking them back every few months. I decided I can't do it again. So, I came up with an invention for toe draggers. Combining the forces of gutter sc… Continue

spiderwoman roller evoultion

So, I have been working pretty consistantly on them and they have become a part of my competitive game, but they are so finnicky. I have been forehand rolling with my flick (and every so often with my avenger if I want less distance). What I need to figure out is how crosswind will affect my shot. Sometimes I think it will hold my shot up only to have it turn over. Some of my best rollers have been in 15-20 mph crosswinds, and also some of the worst. with no wind I am getting solid distance on a… Continue

Benjamin Wolfe New Discs

Well, I played in random doubles today and played pretty well. We shot 5 down, but at this one (Tyler Horne comes to this one) 13 down wins routinely. Top 3 pay and they were -13, -11, -9. But the best part of today was ordering my First Run Star Mako. Hope it lives up to the hype. Continue

Kraig Holmes Retake

Holmes kicked my rear so badly on Monday that I had to return to see if I couldn't restore order on the course. I ended up at -2 for the round but it was an adventure getting there. I bogeyed one by missing a 15 foot putt. I would make better than 9 of 10 putts from that distance, but it hit the chains and the basket then fell out. I pulled even with a birdie on 2. Then on 3 I hit the mando tree about 30 feet off the tee box. I hadn't passed the tree but I was on the right side of a mando that I… Continue

Drx49er The 10th Annual Flying Pig Open

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of playing in a tournament. Not just any tournament, but The 10th Annual Flying Pig Open. The tournament was two days, 3 rounds total on two different courses. The first 2 rounds were at Harbin Park with 6 temp holes. I like this course. It favors those with a good arm, which I don't have. That being said, there are still par and deuce oppurtunities for the distance challenged. I unfortunately did not take advantage of those. First round, +22( got a prize fo… Continue
