Timmons Park

I played 27 holes at Timmons Park with Bill and Steve. Bill was there at four and we started playing a round. Bill lost his favorite disc off the 14th tee and we spent about 20 minutes looking for it. We finally played the hole and Steve appeared. He played the rest of the round with us, then Bill went back to 14 to look for his disc while Steve and I went on. We were putting in on #2 and Bill showed up and had found his disc. We played the rest of the front nine but it was brutal. The weather… Continue

Howdy from B.J. (Bogeyman) Ondo

Howdy all, I'm Bogeyman (B.J. Ondo) out of Colorado Springs, CO. My wife Jo and I are members of the Pikes Peak Flying Disc Club: http://www.ppfdc.com and we Host the Sunday FUN/Free League. Were totally NOVICE level players, both 50+ and only started throwing plastic in Sept. 07. I have Reiter's Syndrome, (chronic arthritis) so I will never be a "distance chucker", but the game is just plain FUN!

I was taking a long walk out of the tinly hamlet of…

Discology

As I'm sure many people who get into disc golf are, I am taken by the plethora of golf discs available for the sport. Now, I can't say that I have tried anything like a significant number of all the offerings, but I have been a little rabid about finding those that work well for me at this stage of the game. Welcome to the club, I'm sure.

I have been playing off and on for about four or five years, but only recently started getting more serious about it. I am not a big arm guy; my…

Old Favorites

I have an 11x ROC that had a green stamp had no metallic in it, just a flat green. Then I tried to wipe the stamp off like I do on all my discs and instead of coming off entirely, it left a minty green tint of a stamp. It's now one of my favorite discs in my bag. Sure its one of those dimple/nipple top ROCs that fly like 8x's or 10x's, whichever people claim they are, but I'm not sure that its that which makes it one of my favorites. The reason it is one of my favorites is because of what… Continue

Late to Timmons Park

I was supposed to meet Bill at Timmons at 4 but I didn't get off work until 4. Steve met up with Bill and they were playing on #6 when I finally got there. I played 7 through 18 at +4 with bogeys on 9, 10, 12, and 18. Then we played the first 6 and I birdied 2, 3, and 6. Steve left after #6 and Bill and I played through #9. I birdied #9 to come back to even par after 21 holes. I gave away putts on 9, 12, 13, 15, 17, and 1. So I could have scored much better. But I have to be happy with what I… Continue

Black Ace

I hit my first Black Ace today. It didn't feel nearly as cool as i thought it would. I had the entire park to myself so thankfully no one saw it. I hit basket for #1 from the tee for #13. that's it.

My rating woes

Well, good news!!! I finally shot a 1004 rated round during the Orlando Open back in September. To bad I followed that round up with 3 more terrible below 940 rounds!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaghhhh. My rating only went up 2 points. Anyway, my goal for the year is to get up to at least 970. I will make some progress on that during the Barnett Park Championships next weekend.

Woman competitors

Does anyone know where the best tournaments are for women in the southern mid-western states?? I hate it when there's only 2 or 3 competitors. I guess I could play am. mens or something. I've played advanced womens for awhile now, and I'm bored with it. I plan to play womens masters at worlds, I'm just not good enough to play pro. So, I'm thinking Texas State Championship and the Memorial would be good tournaments, any suggestions? I recall someone saying the Kansas City Wide Open may be good,… Continue

2nd in first C tier of 2008

Well that's 2 Tournaments under my belt for 2008 and 2 second places

That's me before teeing off on #10

It was snowy but not horrible as the winds were calm. I started off the 1st Round HOT again,

got several birdies in a row on the front nine & kinda faded until the end of the 1st round, managed a -5 (996 round) and was in 2nd place tie with paul muhous. The second…

Speed Golf

I played two rounds today after work and before it got dark! It only took about 45 minutes but I'm a bit out of shape. Also it was windy and the more strokes you take, the higher your time usually. I played at Expo Park in Aurora (Near Denver) and just ran with a beat in Roc, an X-Buzz and a Wizard. Expo is a short course (I'm guessing -9 = 1000 rated round) around a couple of lakes and you do have to be careful to keep the plastic off the ice. The winds were constantly 15-20 mph with higher…

My DG Karma is A-OK

OK, so ya'll know I broke my leg recently. It's healing well, and I'm on my feet walking without crutches. I'm still wearing a boot cast for a couple of weeks, but it was sure nice to slip on a real shoe this evening after work.

I was wondering if my DG Karma was in check after such a silly accident. Well, today I got my answer. Just got an email from Uncle Joe that I won the Grand Prize at the 20th Annual Real Ice Bowl. That prize is a new,…

Chills at the Mills-2008

This year I got off work at 5:30 and didn't get any sleep before the tournament. I have played this one 8 times, and have done better several times..ohwell.

The weather was probably the best I can remember, usually it is 1'+ of snow and much colder with purely icy tee-pads. Last year the Monster tees were so bad it was hard to stand on them without moving let alone throw. I don't know the numbers..looked like a lot of food and at least 50 players, which is good.

I shot a -2 followed by… Continue

Winter Warriors

I played the last Winter Warrior event of the year on Saturday. This was my 6th event and since the top 6 scores get counted, at least I got 6. Ended up -18 for the round (we do doubles with double-birdies so scores can get crazy) which raised me from tied 19th to 13th overall. Pretty good with no scores being dropped. Not the points matter except for braggin rights but it was fun and the whole series raised over $3000 for the Mile High Ice Bowl next week.

I'm excited because I played…

New Am divisions & Ratings based compition

I played my first PDGA tourney of the year yesterday, the first one since the PDGA redifined the divisions. It was also the first ratings based tourney I had played in as well. I was well pleased with both, there seemed to be great compition in all divisions and plenty of players in all divisions. I made it a point to speak to some of the older players and women to ask thier opinion of the ratings based divisions. All that I spoke with seemed to be pleased playing against players of similar…
