I have just started an adventure into this hobby.
I'm hooked! to say the least.
I'm a self proclaimed HopHead. I love hops. My goal is to brew a beer that has the flavor of HopSlam by Bell's brewery, but with a much lower alcohol content so that I may drink more. :)
I'll try and keep this blog abreast of the goings on.

I showed up at Lakewood on Sunday morning to run the acepot. With the chilly weather and two big football games on TV I didn't know if anyone would show up or not. As it happened there were eight of us that showed up ready to play so we decided to play 27 holes of doubles instead of the customary two rounds of 18. We each put in $10 and played in one large group. We followed the same format as the 27 hole layout that I put together last summer for the Solstice Acepotapalooza! In the end Gordy… Continue

2008 marks the 5th year that I have been playing disc golf. It seems like just yesterday it was 2003, in August and I was buying my first discs ( a red 168 dx eagle and a white 175 aviar P&A). Since then I have had a sucessful amateur career (4th place <19 worlds in 05, Am champion 2005 MSDGC, and on the back cover of that DVD) and cashed in my fair of events in pro. Over time I have been sponsored by Gateway (that just ended), and 2007 was almost a disc golf less year for me. I have… Continue

During the summer of 1998, a buddy (John Pool, a.k.a., "The Cannon") and I left Phoenix for a week of disc golfing fun in California. We played several courses during this time - as many as we could - and this recollection is from the DeLaveaga course in Santa Cruz, CA.
This was great fun, a beautiful and challenging course with extreme elevation changes and many hazards. We played here for a day-and-a-half, though it was our first round at the course where my story… Continue

More money, more problems? Not when you're damn near broke it ain't! So far I'm two tournaments into 2008, and 19 days in... I'm up to $210 in unsanctioned tournament earnings. It isn't much, but its a start. I took second today at the Columbus Ice Bowl, at the Hambrick Memorial Course. I actually tied for first with Geoff Bennett and lost in a sudden death tiebreaker. He got $100, I got $60. Sucks that I lost it, I was actually in with a strong lead after one round, he had the hot round by, I… Continue

I got off work late today and was passing by Timmons at 4 o'clock when I normally play meet Bill. I pulled in to see if he was there and he was! I was in my work clothes - bib overalls, a flannel shirt, and work shoes. Carla stayed in the car to stay out of the snow. We played the first 6 holes and it was pretty ugly, but we had a good time. We knew that we were in trouble when we started down the hill on #2. I assured Bill that at least one of us was going to bust our butts on the hill. As I… Continue

A couple weeks ago I was relaxing watching some T.V. when I noticed a message on my cell phone. The number didn't look familiar, but when I picked up the message I knew the voice right away. Brian Sullivan from Disc Golf Radio fame had left me a message regarding me possibly being picked to be on the Discraft team. I called right away, and after a very positive conversation I was officially on the team. The next day I emailed my disc and gear order to them. I figured it would be here in a few… Continue

Today was the Winter Bike to Work Rally in Chicago. The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation sponsors this even to commemorate the anniversary of the coldest day in Chicago history. On January 20, 1985 it was -27. I recall that date. My wife and I walked from our apartment near Wrigley Field to see a movie at the Biograph Theater about a mile and a half away. I don't recall the movie but I know we took a cab back home. We wore pretty much all the clothing… Continue

Yesterday, the Ann Arbor News
featured disc golf on the front
page of its "Connection" section. The coverage also included a nice
image about it at the top of the front page. Here is a link to the article, titled: It's the right stuff vs. the white stuff Dedicated disc golfers don't let winter spoil the game.
The online version does not have a sidebar… Continue

YOU KNOW YOUR A DISC GOLF ADDICT WHEN...
1 You have three or more versions of the same disc.
2 You are sure the color of the disc effects how it flies.
3 You have started a Disc Golf Web Page.
4 When designing your new house, one room on the blueprints is called "Hot Stamp Gallery Room".
5 You have ever advertised "Disc Golf Lessons" in a local newspaper.
6 After playing a course once, you already know how it should be re-designed.
7 You have ever uttered the… Continue

We're all fat and happy, and rich and famous in Snellville, GA, USA 'cause of some major front page press coverage in the Loganville Tribune, of our Tuesday night Glo-golf dubs action at Lenora Park!
Now we get to hang with Brittany and her tribe.

The last two days I have been working for Par One, Inc. at the PPAI expo here in Las Vegas. Par One is a golf company that puts custom logos on every piece of equipment you can think of for golf. They now are also selling custom disc golf supplies as well. It was awesome to see discs and a basket in a real ball golf catalog.Plus, all of the staff that was there from Par One were very enthusiastic about the game.. They hired me to put on a putting demonstration and talk to people who wanted to… Continue

I had a bit of business to do down toward the south end today so I decided to swing by SeaTac for a speed round. Started on the back nine and enjoyed playing the course in its winter condition. By that I mean without a lot of foliage. It makes a big difference on the way you see your shot follow a line and how far/close the baskets seem to be from the tee. I was throwing with decent power today but boy was it hard to keep the disc on the right line, my release point was giving me fits. All the… Continue

Played Mt. Airy again for a little Ice Bowl practice tonight. It wasn't too bad cold, about 38 degrees. Wind was pretty calm for "Airy".
It was me, AdamJ, EricS, Chad, and Russ Foster. Anyways, Adam had to show-off and play with two ProD Bangers only... and shot well.
I started off the round with two Bogeys, booo. I didn't get another bogey until 6 and 9 so I was playing pretty decent. I was +4 going into the green monster (10). I took 5 (stupid third shot) and then the… Continue
