Just wanted to leave a first blog entry here.
I won my first PDGA tourney on Sunday (playing Adv AM). It was the Stumptown New Years Classic
at Pier Park in Portland. Finished with 3 birdiies to tie for 1st and I won on the first playoff hole. It felt really good.
I was very happy with a new disc I just started throwing that day. The Discraft Avenger SS FLX. I think this will become my main driver replacing the Pro Teebird-Ls that I usually throw (but I'll still use… Continue

Bill, Steve, and I played Timmons after work tonight. I was a little inconsistent, but ended up at even par. I birdied 1 and 2 while I bogeyed 11 and 15. I popped up my birdie putt on 15 then it rolled out of the honey-pot and back down the hill. Steve left then BIll and I played the front nine again. I birdied 2 and 6, but I gave away a gimme putt on 4 and teed off a tree on 5 into the creek for a double bogey.

I guess you could say I started the new year off with a lot of "SNAP". Managed to snap my tibia an fibula teeing off on a natural tee while playing day two at Crockett Park in Brentwood Tennessee during my Christmas vacation. Totally accidental slip during my x-step put me right on my a$$.
So to say the least, I'm in recovery mode for a few months, but will be trying to enjoy helping other players and clubs with events like the 2008 Ice Bowls that are coming up in our… Continue

Coop, Daddy Coop, and I played 18 holes at Gower tonight. This is the first time that Wayne has ever played and he was +7. Steve and I were both +4. Wayne had a good time and I think that we may see him start playing with us. Wayne is 60 which would make him eligible to play Senior Grand Masters division. Wayne is a good bowler, golder, hunter, and fisherman, so maybe he'll add disc golf to his resume.

I thought I should maybe just give a little bit of my background in disc golf. I got hooked on throwing frisbees at the age of 12 and competed in the UK Overall Frisbee Championships in 1977. Next year I won the UK title and got a free trip to California to play in the World Frisbee Championships. That is when I played my first disc golf competition and first saw a basket, so I was "in at the deep end" in terms of competition, and also literally as my first throw went into a lake at La… Continue

The cold front has moved out, and back to normal weather here in Florida. Man was it cold in the mornings for a few days. High teens somedays! Not as damaging as the rain in California though.
Played a few rounds on Sunday. My putting woes continue. I am missing 15 footers way too much. I switched back to Magnets, and still trying to work out some of the kinks. On the other hand, my 30 footers are much more consistant.
Round 1, I managed to still cash in the handicapp league,… Continue

Well, a most unfortunate thing happened recently. I had a bunch of personal stuff on my work computer and the hard disk crashed and burned. Like most idiots, I kept meaning to back my stuff up but never got around to it. Unfortunately, I had a bunch of disc golf related files in there, including some spreadsheets that documented every ace I've ever had and every tournament I've ever played in.
Yesterday (so to speak), I had 36 aces, with each and every one documented with the date,… Continue

until yesterday. Team Rizbee rolled up to Redlands, CA for their inaugural Ice Bowl event, which is part of a three-tournament Ice Bowl Series (Redlands, Palm Desert, San Marcos). A field of about 20 played 18 holes on the 9-hole Ford Park DGC. Many players were probably scared off by the "storm of the century" that was supposed to dump several inches of rain on us yesterday, but didn't show in the morning. But I digress...
Bill Maury-Holmes, the TD referred to me as a sand-bagger as… Continue

What a great day to play for January. 61 degrees. Snow melting. Little wind to make it interesting. I decided to play 3 rounds today to help run my totals up so when I can't play for a day I will be still OK. Started out at the DC course early in the AM. Shot a -2 for the course. Very muddy on our elevated tee on #6. Went to Ft Madison and played both their courses. Played a par round on the scenic course. Started to play a good round on the Pioneer Course until I came upon the front nine. Both… Continue

Got out today with a few of the usual suspects. Gary, Jeremy and Dan. Played Windflower. The temperature was about 40 and a lot of the snow is melting. Overall it was a nice day to get out. The course is in pretty good shape considering the recent weather. There are a few tree limbs down and a lot of little twigs. All this from the ice storm a few weeks ago. The pads are all covered in show and ice and we even had to search for them. All in all it was a great way to warm up for the Ice Bowl in… Continue

I played the Easley Ice Bowl today and finished 2nd of 5 in rec division. I played so-so in the morning at +15 and I really blew up in the afternoon on the back 9 and was +21. So i threw a 144 for 36 holes. For some reason I usually play very poorly at Easley. I like the course, but I score very poorly.

This was one of my worst days ever. I had not thrown this bad in a long time. I could not get comfortable with my grip and my shots kept going high. I had some easy putts that I screwed up. I was forced into playing the advanced division which ment I played from the two longer tee pads. What bothers me is that is only two holes yet my scores were bad all over the course. It was not a good day.

Weather has warmed up and snow is melting. No wind and partly sunny. Went to Dankwardt in Burlington and played 2 rounds there today. Had a few good holes and a couple of bogies. Ended up +1 after the first round. On the second round I corrected a few of my previous mistakes. I ended up par for that round. Played better today than I did this summer during the K9 Karnival. Finally getting used to my new driver that I got for Xmas from the wife. Doing what I want it to do. Working on getting my… Continue

Weather was 29 deg. in DC. Wind out of the south blowing a little bit. Seemed colder today than yesterday. Shot a +3 today. Wind had a little effect on the discs on the wide open long drives. Tracks from yesterday were blown full by the wind. Can't wait till the weekend. Balmy weather of 45 deg forecasted for Sat and Sun. Might be able to play in a hoodie.

Today I was able to get 2 rounds of golf in. Weather was 15 deg w/ little wind. First round I played was in Macomb. Threw a 4 over for the course. Not as much snow there as at home. Then I got back to DC and played a round on our course at the school. Played better there. Threw even par for the course. A few drifts knee high. Over dressed for the weather. I do remember the old saying that it is easier to take it off if you get warm than putting it on (if you don't have it) when you get cold.… Continue

Wanted to start resolution today. 1 round average per day or 365+ per year. 14 degrees w/ 6" of snow on the ground. Drifts up to my ***. Wind kept me from doing it. Try to squeeze 2 rounds in tomorrow. Wind is to let up a little tonight. I put 4 pictures on line to show how deep the drift was at my portable in my yard.
