Resolution - 365+ rounds for the year (day 2, 1/2/08)

Today I was able to get 2 rounds of golf in. Weather was 15 deg w/ little wind. First round I played was in Macomb. Threw a 4 over for the course. Not as much snow there as at home. Then I got back to DC and played a round on our course at the school. Played better there. Threw even par for the course. A few drifts knee high. Over dressed for the weather. New Years resolution - 365+ rounds of disc golf for the 2008 year (1/1/08).

Wanted to start resolution today. 1 round average per day or 365+ per year. 14 degrees w/ 6" of snow on the ground. Drifts up to my ***. Wind kept me from doing it. Try to squeeze 2 rounds in tomorrow. Wind is to let up a little tonight. I put 4 pictures on line to show how deep the drift was at my portable in my yard.

Gower Park

Coop and I played two rounds tonight with his nephew Ty. I was +3 and +2. When we finished we ran into Pat Husted and talked to him about tomorrow's Ice Bowl in Easley. I have lost 6 pounds since Monday on this diet.

The most brilliant thing you'll read today

Hudson Mills Metropark - considered by many the one of the top (and oldest) courses in the country - has implemented a pay-to-play model this year. $50 for an annual pass or $2 per round. Hudson Mills has two 24 hole courses, an activity center with snack bar, restrooms and vending machines. It is also the host to the Discraft Great Lakes Open. Easily the biggest and most prestigious tournament in Michigan. Basically it's about as good as it gets for a disc golf course, not just the course…

Lakewood

Played Lakewood for the first time today. Great course. I shot a respectable 52. Had a great round until the six on 12 long followed by a frustrated bogey on 13.Good warm up for this weekends kick off of the KOTS series.

Hopefully got the bagtags worked out-never could find anything to drill through the damn things though. I ended up using an epoxy blend and a little crafty work.Seem to be holding pretty well so far.

Welcome to Winter Golf....

Not much to blog about... just the frustration inevitable with winter field work. Stupid decision of the day, doing field work in a couple of inches of snow near dusk. I'm down a couple of distance drivers. I think I've got a pretty good bead on the Destroyer, and if I don't find it I have a backup waiting... but it is annoying. Respect- long but good blog (in my opinion of course!)

I've just been thinking about respect a lot. I think respecting others does a lot for your reputation, on and off the course. I ran into an incident a few months back that caused much of this thinking. This past spring and summer, I played a majority of my rounds at Ottawa Park in Toledo, OH. Ottawa is not the safest course to play on. One day I was out playing and the cops were chasing a guy from the neighborhood across the street onto the course and had their tazers out and ready. I just started this today and it is awsome. I can't wait to get my friends on here as well. I am looking forward to Saturday for the first tournament of the year. I will be playing at Mazerick Park in Fayetteville. I really need to improve my game this year. i have kind of reached a level that I can't get passed.

Nice, Cold Round; -11, 63

It was 13 degrees when I got there but had warmed up to a balmy 15 by the end of the round. Shot a -5, 32 on the front nine and -6, 31 on the back with a 2 on hole 10 by hitting a 75 footer.

Disc Resolutions for 2008

It is 5:40 in the morning as I begin this post. Clearly I have failed in one of last year's resolutions to always get myself to bed at a sane hour. My other resolutions were for weight training, and putting.

The weight training resolution wasn't a total failure, but it wasn't a success either. It lasted me for five weeks, into the middle of February. At that point I caught the flu, lost a lot of strength, and never went back to the rec center. I finally picked it back up in early… Continue

Stakes in the ground - grading has begun!!

I got a call first thing this morning from the Parks Dept.: "Have you been out to mark the locations for the tees and baskets at Montiel Park? We thought you were going to use sprinkler flags and the contractor didn't see any out there." Well, I don't think I was dreaming when I adjusted the flag locations on New Year's Eve, so I guess someone had decided to "borrow" my flags. secrets to becoming a better discer

thanks to all the disc golfers in my community for making 2007 a fun year. I spent all year trying new things. I got to halloween and decided the most important thing is to stick to a drive and putt that works. I changed putters about 5 times. its not the disc but the putter. Its a great life lesson. Damaging the Throwing Hand!

Ouch! I learned early on the basic rule that you never reach into deep grass or a thicket with your throwing hand. Tonight, Sheila learned that about . . . dish water! (See pic at end of blog post.)
