This course will be far easier than my 1st tourney, hoping to place better than 9th out of 12 in recreational. Actually, hoping to win Rec because its my home course, L.L.Woods, Lewisville, TX. Nikko, McCabe and Miles will be there, hope to pick up a few pointers.

Dynamic Disc Warmup, Feb 6th, hope to see you there!

Back from the field and new sponsorships for the ice bowl

just got back in from a few days out in the cold woods of TN playing a bad guys for the good guys to shoot at...don't ask! Anyways the Oak Grove Ice Bowl seems to keep on rolling and i have picked up a couple more sponsorships to add to the growing number of what i have already. Merchandise from the ice bowl HQ will be paid for and shipped this week if the weather stays nice enough for me to at least get to the bank. Luigi's Pizza here in Oak Grove paired up with Autism Speaks and donated money… Continue

Great Day of Disc Golf

Yesterday, i played 3 rounds at one course and 1 at another. Scored 3, 2 then 0. At my home course later, i scored a -1. No mulligan's, no redos, etc. Putting was on like donkey kong. Best day for me, getting closer and closer to consistent par golf.

WHAT! Got my second ACE of 2010 today. I stuck my red Z Buzzz in hole 4B at Morley. Unfortunately, out of 9 fellow golfers, I only cashed in $1 measley dollar! What happened to the righteous $5 payers? So disrespectful. Now I know I don't need 2 pay them whenever their day comes... KARMA. Just REMEMBER, I ACED!!!

My Journey into Disc Golf (Part 1)

Well, I suppose you could call this a blog series of sorts that I hope to keep up as I progress through my hopeful disc golf "career."

The Discovery

It was late one night in early January 2010, and I could not sleep. I had been having problems with insomnia, depression, apathy, and avolition (or, a loss of willpower and such) for quite some time now. I mainly attributed these things to a lack of activity (i.e. actually getting out and moving). This night I got bored… Continue

First Time At Bud Hill

Yesterday was a great day. I got to make it out to Bud Hill in Memphis Tennessee for the first time. The course is gorgeous and there is a little 9 hole course there that is just as fun as the main course. It is absolutely breathtaking.

But now for the best part of the day. A friend of mine and his wife met me out there. I also had my fiance with me. Yesterday was her first day to ever play disc golf. All four of us had a blast. Angela enjoyed playing and made some new friends as… Continue

Got my dad into disc golf

I bought my dad a bag and discs for xmas as an attempt to really get my dad out and play. All he does is hear about what I do when he asks me. I ended up buying him a Pro Leopard, Star TL, SS-Voodoo, Pro Starfire, FLX Buzzz, and a Rattler. I've noticed that he LOVES the FLX Buzzz and mainly just the plastic because of grip and feel. He used to play Ultimate and Freestyle and that is one reason that I got him the Rattler as it seems that it is the closest disc to those type. We've played about… Continue

Holmes - Ahead of the Rain

After work I headed to Holmes for a quick nine holes. It is supposed to rain today but it hadn't arrived after work. On the way home the sun was bright and I was ready to go. Once I had changed the sky had turned very dark. I threw a 25 for -2. I birdied 1 and 5 with no bogeys. That is the first time that I have birdied #1. I should have birdied #7 also but missed a very makeable putt.

The First of Many

So here it is a new year...and time for a new start to the Disc Golf season...I have been working hard this new year making sure the Sharpshooters team is taken care of and going out and hitting the streets drumming up any kind of sponsorships i can get for the Oak Grove Ice Bowl...This is my first shot at being a tournament director and I have learned that my cell phone and driving all over the place are the best two weapons i have in my arsenal. I have talked to countless numbers of disc golf… Continue

Disc Golf Course Histories...Do you know one and want to share?

If players build them, will we come? I think so. There are thousands of courses today around the globe and every course has a story behind it. What are those stories? Who built those courses? Did the course thrive and expand, or did it fall into disrepair and shrink away? Is there a disc golf community that owes its existence to a particular person, club or course? I am sure there a multitude of stories about trials, celebrations, environmental battles, etc... Where I live, in few basic… Continue

Holmes Park

I headed back to Holmes after work today and played another quick nine holes at even par. I birdied 2 and bogeyed 7 ( a birdie hole) to finish even again. I picked up a little distance from Tuesday but still have a lot to regain. I did make some nice throws and also threw some ugly dicks out there, but at least I am throwing again.

Supporting Disc Golf in NorCal

If you haven't already heard, getting a course installed in Chico CA's Bidwell Park is a very difficult task. Over the past 12 years a battle ensued an it looks as though Chico Disc golfers have won. Much like other similar stories (S.F. Golden gate Park Course) you might have read we had to put in alot of time and compromises to get it done.

But the outcome has not been all negative. Some of the things that have happened as a result of this battle are very positive. In fact due to… Continue

Holmes Park

I hadn't played in over a month so it felt good to get back out for a quick round. After work I headed to Homes for a quick nine holes in the chilly weather. I was throwing very short, but threw a par. I had a pair of bogeys (4 & 8) and a pair of birdies (5 & 6) to come in at even par.

First Dubs Play.

Well it has been quite some time since I have sat down and done a Blog post. So here we go. Yesterday I got the chance for my first Doubles play. It was not in a tournament or even for tags, but for fun, and fun it was. My partner and I shot 2 rounds together and shot 1 down both rounds. We played well off each other. We had a few shots that could have been better but over all we shot pretty well. All in all it was a great experience and I am looking forward to the next time I get to play dubs.

Another Year done!

Sorry to all my friend that I haven't talked to in a while, I've been extremely busy with work, family and even spent some time on the side lines due to being sick/injured! But that's all behind me now, Andrew, Jason and I have decided to continue on with RLDGA and will be adding a new line of DryFit this year. We will be however focusing our retail efforts to the J-Bird Players Series (one of the best run tournament series in the state) as well as a few online outlets and hopefully some local… Continue
