The Ohio Discs

I rinsed the Ohio discs tonight. The black was not black enough and the navy wasn't dark enough so I redyed them and reshelved them. On the OU discs I also greyed the grey and it came out fine. Then I glue masked the grey so it won't go pink when i rinse the red. So the OU discs have supplemental black and thin red on them now. I'm going to layer the red on slowly so that I don't get so much in the glue mask. I'm really happy with the way these are looking so far.

Best Dressed on the Course

Well, this must have been the third time this year I forgot my golf cloths at home and went straight to the course from work. Being a white collar worker in Hawaii, its a short sleeve collared button down, slacks and a pair of Rockports. I definitely have to untuck the shirt and have found loosening the belt a notch helps. I don't do any kneel downs or wiping off of dirt. Hey, but last Wednesday i won the round on the final putt. Hoo Hooo. :)

The Better Basket

Which is the better? The Lightning DB5 or the Discatcher Sport? Well, I bought them both to find out for myself.

(1) DB5 cost $179.99 with free shipping
(2) Discatcher Sports cost $325.00 with free shipping or $162.50 each

I hope they last longer than I do! My wife's gonna kill me.

More trophy disc work

Yesterday I did the lettering on 15 or 16 IOS 2 trophy discs and weeded four or five IOS 3 trophy disc stickers. I did some more work on the Stevie Ray artwork after realizing that what I was working on was way too small. And I had an idea I'll have to keep secret. Something about trophy discs. Today I'll rinse the black off the Ohio State discs and the navy off the Indians discs. Then I have to do some delicate remasking so I can do the red and not get pink in the grey parts.

Stressed before the big tourney (GCC) tomorrow!

So check this out! I was playing a night round with a buddy at sunset the night before the G.C.C (Gentlemens Club Challenge). And one of my last holes I went OB and TOTALLY forgot to grab my disc! Keep in mind that this disc is my goto disc for all shots I'm really not sure what to throw!!! *cries* I have to be at Sunset Park in 7.5hrs and I'm a stress case because I won't have my favorite disc with me! *shakes fists* Well, I just wanted to vent! Take care! Peace, Love and Making Putts! -Keoni

4th annual Lions Club Charity Classic Ice Bowl in Athens Al. 2/23/08 by Cotton Pickin Flyers

Is is sick and twisted when you look forward to a day where you know you are gonna get tortured on the disc golf course? That was what I was asking myself when I woke up the day of the tourney. I knew it going to be a long day judging from my experience the year before. Just a year before The 3rd annual LCCC was my first tournament. It really is a great course and a great club but to say this is a tricky course is a huge understatement. There is OB on I would say every hole and most of the… Continue

Upgrading the Instep Portable

The Instep Portable basket is a fairly cheap all metal portable disc golf basket. It breaks down easily, can be carried by one person, and even fits in my small trunk. As with many other inexpensive baskets, it does not catch nearly as well as a (insert your favorite target here).

With all of the snow on the ground, I have not gotten nearly the amount of rounds that I would have liked to this winter. So I dragged my basket into my basement for putting practice. It's not a big… Continue

Gower Park

Coop an I played 18 holes at Gower tonight. I was +2 and +1 to end up at +3. The first time around I birdied #3, then bogeyed #5 and #6. The second time around I bogeyed #5. We saw that another player was playing behind us, but with my vision it was hard to see who it was. As we finished Steve said that he thought that it was Craig with a C. We had met him at Timmons a couple of weeks ago. Steve was tired and needed to get home for some sleep and I waited for Craig to come around. We had a very… Continue

Springlike Day

I had scheduled a Lakewood Club meeting for this evening hoping for a nice day so I could swing by the course and play beforehand. The weather didn't disappoint but before I could play I had to meet with Sam from the parks department about an issue with hole 16. Sam supervises the maintenence at Lakewood and is very disc golf friendly. Unfortunately there is some pressure from above that is asking (requiring?) that the basket on hole 16 be taken out of the wooded area where it now resides. This… Continue

The GCFDA's Icebowl Krazy Series that consisted of 3 Icebowls, Mt. Airy, Banklick and Idlewild/Boone raised $3100 for Fairhaven Rescue Mission in Covington, Ky. The check shows $3066.00 but we added $34 to make it $3100. Thanks to all those who participated in any of the events. We also collected many, many bags of clothing. $5 of every entry fee goes to the charity; you could buy 6 Mulligans per event for $1 each; we had one…

Hungry

We played nine at Holly on the lunch time today. So the back tees are not shoveled if you're headed out there. Kelsey and Kira won. They birdied the next to last hole with an ace run fly over to take a one throw lead and made a great recovery to save par on the last hole.

I called Innova and added five yellow 168 gram Champion Coyotes to my order. If you are the guy who wanted them, I should have them Monday.

IOS 3 Trophy Discs, etc

Pushed a lot of things forward but nothing to a conclusion today on the dyed disc front.

I weeded and masked the Ohio discs. I finished weeding the IOS 2 discs. I started weeding stickers for the IOS 3 discs. I did a little clean up on the SRV artwork. If I can get the discs, I have an order for five SRVs.

Tentative Schedule...

Right now I've got a tentative tournament schedule laid out for the next two months. It is completely loaded, thus far. The only question really concerns money. I've got enough, but I'm also going to have to pay for my passport to get ready for my summer trip to Spain this year. I am already pre-registered for BG Ams though, so thats money already spent, no need to budget for it in my current account.
