Tonight was pretty uneventful. The weather had been wet and even though the sun came out after work the course was very wet and it was also very windy out. Neither Bill or Steve came out tonight, so I played one round by myself. I threw a +4 but didn't play nearly as bad as that score would indicate. I should have birdied #2 but short-armed a 20 foot putt. My tee shot on #4 was very good, but the wind caused me to whiff on two putts for a bogey. The tee shot on #5 was also caught by the wind… Continue

The Discraft custom hot stamp order has arrived! The discs look pretty sweet. This is my first tournament hot stamp, and I'm quite happy with the results. I ordered 250 discs from Discraft, and all will be available at the tournament.
The only change that happened in the order - not sure if it was intentional or not - but I ordered 25 FLX Avenger SS. I wound up with only 7 FLX Avenger SS and 18 of the new FLX Avenger. But since I did receive CryZtal Avengers, perhaps everyone can be… Continue

Well, it snowed again last night. Go figure. There has been snow cover for a couple months now and it has not been easy to play disc golf in the Chicago area. Sure, you can play in the snow. However, we have had bitter cold, snow, melt off, ice, more snow, more melt, more cold and a perpetual cycle of nastiness. The population herer has pretty much reached a collective state where we are now emotionally numb. Physical numbness is old news.

I spent the better part of the day at the studio grinding on some sculpture pieces and working on a couple of other projects. I headed out to Lakewood in the late afternoon expecting to see lots of cars in the lot since the weather was once again outstanding. Surprisingly there were only a couple of cars and a just a few golfers in sight when I arrived. While I was taking a few warmup putts Leif drove up fresh from a round at Seatac so we decided to head out onto the course together. Leif… Continue

Its winter and even though Im playing a few times a week i have a lot of non-disc time. I bought waders as a result of me loosing my favorite disc in the river near my home course. Im pretty excited to get that goin, its gonna be fun finding my discs as well as all the random plastic thats accumulated over the winter....
I also made a disc frame for my bag out of some plastic scraps i picked up at a local plastic place. Ive got new ideas about making it better, faster, stronger,… Continue

I've been pushing the IOS 2 discs ahead. Almost all 16 are weeded and ready for lettering. At the same time I've been working on some side jobs. I'm doing some discs for a Cleveland Indians and Ohio State fan. I'll put those up when they are done. Tonight I just weeded the masks. Weeding is when you pick off the sticker bits you don't need before you dye it.
There's this one guy who has been bugging me to work up some Stevie Ray Vaughan artwork. John Belushi was a big Stevie Ray fan,… Continue

Reese and I played two rounds at a windy Expo today. The kid is a rabbit and pushed my to my best times ever. I got two rounds in under 19:00! 1st round at 18:30 at -3 = 17:45 on the Mike Randolph scale (minus/plus 0:15 sec per stroke under/over par). Got the 2nd round in at 18:55 at -6 = 17:25. Pretty windy so it was a bit of a challenge putting but I felt pretty and made some nice putts. I beat Reese both rounds but not by much and it was more about strokes than speed. He goes for it though!… Continue

4 ladies met for a tag round at tolland yesterday (tolland, CT). GREAT weather. however, there was lots of snow on the ground. we survived one round with only one lost disc. as usual, the company on the course was awesome. lots of laughs and even a couple of pre-season, deep-snow rules were invented. erica and kristi brought CTPs. erica, kristi, and charis prepared ample food for all. we unanimously decided against a 2nd round. it was replaced by girl talk and beers… Continue

What a day 2-23-08 -- TWO ACES in the same round on my buddie's private course "Phantom Falls" ..... in the same day. Unbelievable - the first was a skip Ace on #1 (First $ out of his Ace Run pot) and the second was on #16 a short "Annie" with some tree love and in!!! I fell apart scorewise on the back....but it taught me a lot about remaining humble!!!

I was playing the Creekside Open in 2003. I teed off on hole 10 with my nice First Run CE Roc. I threw it hard and flat, but yanked it a little. It hit a dry patch of dirt and took a huge anti-skip right into the creek. The creek was really moving that year and I ran up just in time to see my Roc floating down stream. I was pretty devastated as it was my favorite disc. That was the last time I saw it....until today.
The story goes something like this. When the creek mellowed a bit a… Continue

So I went there with intentions to play 48 holes, all longs. But, after playing the Blacks (Monster Long) 24, I went over to the original and decided it wasn't safe to play the longs, too many people stepped on them and turned it into pure ice. The black tees had some snow making it possible to drive off of, though they were pretty bad.
I shot 69 (-3) on the Blacks, and 65 (-7) on the Reds.
Had some pretty lame shots and some pretty great ones. Hole #9 Black is 410' and I… Continue

- MIDGC Mt Pleasant:
In the morning, I paired up with John N (Nacho) and we played really well together, both hitting some nice putts and parking some drives. I parked Hole 1 for the CTP and won a disc so that was cool! We ended up 9 under and had the best round. Unfortunately, we hadn't paid for "Stroke Play" due to my ignorance but we did get our $5 back for winning our Match Play.
In the afternoon, I shot 1 under which was tied for the best score… Continue

Thanks to all who braved the rain today to participate in the San Marcos Ice Bowl at Montiel Park. Fifty-one hardy souls slogged through the mud, mist and mulligans to help us celebrate the Grand Opening of San Diego County's newest disc golf course, and to generate a sizeable donation for The Angel's Depot (a North County Senior Food Bank). I will update later with totals for the donation in dollars and pounds of food, but it's safe to say this was a… Continue
